I never said you said it was okay, so relax. You mentioned the future I just think stopping old rich white pervs from abusing young vulnerable people should be one of our goals to make a better future, no?

No one is saying don't criticize Democrats. They are very deserving of criticism being the spineless losers they have been for decades. What people are saying is understand the reasons and motivations to why things are done the way they are. We get it. You don't like Clinton. You don't have to like Clinton to understand that the endorsement of a past POTUS is gold in the US system of elections and public opinion.

Equating leftists with Trump supporters for valid criticisms of the Democratic party, and then bitching about purity tests is quite something, too.

I don't see a valid criticism. All I see is you pissing and moaning about something that pretty well everyone acknowledged - Bill Clinton is a slimy piece of work. Get over that. This is not about the court of your opinion, or your Canadian sensibilities, this is American politics and the endorsement of a past POTUS. I wonder what your hot take would be if W. came out and endorsed a candidate? Would you be all about the endorsement, or would you wet your pants about a war criminal being allowed to speak?

I've made it very clear that it's fine to criticize their decision to invite him to speak. A simple "inviting Bill to speak was a bad idea" would have sufficed. As oppose to lighting the thread ablaze with it, while saying nothing positive about the rest of the convention.

Hence not helping Trump get elected.

My bad. I didn't realize there was a quota of positive things one must say about the Democrats before criticizing them, lest I be a dastardly Trump supporter in disguise.

Please stop with this. It literally does not matter what is said in this thread. It’s 90% the same group of guys that have been around for the last 10-20 years and nobody here is or isn’t voting Trump based on this thread. Just stop.
And hey, if you want to blame someone for helping get Trump elected, blame the DNC. They invited the guy. It’s absurd to try to blame people who take issue with it, like Republicans are waiting to see what the reaction is on CalgaryPuck before they restock the ammo.
“Holy moly Don! I read here on the local Calgary message board that Billy is a RAPIST!! We gotta use that!!”
Give your head a shake.

Where am I wrong? All your pissing and moaning is just that. Americans don't care about the issues you raise, don't share your values, or care about your bruised sensibilities. Americans think people like you are weird.

Okay. I guess I'll just abandon my morals and values if the Americans Lanny knows don't care about them.
Silly me for thinking rape is wrong when apparently most Americans do not.
Is your entire moral compass derived from Pew Research polls?

I'm both anti-Republican and anti-rape. But I see the big picture and understand that Trump and the groups pushing Project 2025 want to turn America into Gilead, and yes I do think preventing that from happening is far, far more important than fixating on what may have happened 30 years ago.

If Trump wins, no it's not ultimately going to matter what Bill did 30 years ago. It's like if you go for a run nonstop for 3 days without resting or drinking water, and collapse and die, it's not going to matter how good of shape you got into from the running. Or, if you're a clerk at a store, if a customer pulls a gun on another customer and demands all the money from the till, you give the money because you understand that a person's life is more important than money.

It goes both ways. If you think your CP posts regarding what happens in the US have any more impact on stopping rape culture than my posts have on the 2024 US election, you're the one who needs to give your head a shake.

You don't get to call yourself anti-rape when you're:
a) saying things like "accusations aren't facts" about a guy who has over a dozen allegations against him
and
b) telling survivors and their allies they should shut up when it's not politically convenient for you to let them speak up.
