Donald Trump was found civilly liable in the court of law for rape.
Bill hasn't.
I don't agree with the decision to have Bill speak. But there's no equivalency between Trump and Bill here.

You don't think using a position of authority such as the most powerful office in the world to coerce a subordinate, 35 years younger than you, into performing sexual acts is rape?
EDIT: Pretty easy to find a list of all the allegations.

Ah well, if the courts didn't find him guilty, then he surely he didn't do anything wrong.
The man is gross. You don't need to compare him to Trump to justify his presence at the DNC.

I'm not justifying his presence there.
I'm just tired of every conversation turning into this both sides many sides crap.
Inviting Bill to speak was a mistake. But it's not on the level of a KNOWN rapist running FOR president in 2024.

27 years, but sure, let's lean into your point.
She claims that she was intensely in love with Clinton at the time. Was that feeling of love out of coercion? I have my doubts. While he isn't blameless, she was sort of obsessed with him, and tried to put herself near him as much as possible.
My thought is that she was unhealthily obsessed with him, and he sort of took advantage of that. But that's a long way to claiming rape, so let's calm down a bit, ok?

He was a known rapist when he ran in '92 and' 96. There are at least 14 different allegations against him, and that's before getting into the Epstein stuff.
Having him speak in 2024 is beyond gross.

Okay, so how do you want to justify the other dozen or so allegations of rape and sexual assault? Just all political witch hunts?

I'm not going to justify anything, but you seem like you have your own witch hunt for purity going on here. He's not clean by any stretch, but he's not the monster you want him to be. Just a slick, lascivious, old school slime ball. The kind of guy your dad was probably friends with, but wouldn't want to admit.
But it's foolish to put a modern standard on prior eras. I don't know why we have to re-litigate the past with a different metric that we created recently. It's too late for that, and really, there's no specific proof of anything...unlike Trump. Let it go, okay?
You know the Mongols raped enough people that there's a small amount of Genghis Khan DNA in about 16 million people today. Are you going to litigate that too?

Tim Walz is terrific. How can you not like this guy? A genuinely smart, nice and humble dude.

Watching Tim Walz's son sob through this entire speech is kind of endearing. What a delightful family.

Ah yes, just a classic slime ball. One of the boys. A man of his time. Did you use that excuse for Weinstein, too?

n a 1999 episode of Dateline NBC, former Bill Clinton campaign volunteer Juanita Broaddrick alleged that, in the late 1970s, Clinton raped her in her hotel room. According to Broaddrick, she agreed to meet with Clinton for coffee in the lobby of her hotel, but Clinton asked if they could go to her room to avoid a crowd of reporters; she agreed. Broaddrick stated that once Clinton had isolated her in her hotel room, he raped her. Broaddrick stated Clinton injured her lip by biting it during the assault.

In October 2016, Leslie Millwee accused Bill Clinton of sexually assaulting her three times in 1980. Millwee was then an employee at a now-defunct Arkansas based television station, and Clinton was then governor of Arkansas. Millwee told Breitbart News that on each of the three occasions, Clinton came up behind her and fondled her breasts, and on the second occasion, he rubbed his crotch against her and came to orgasm.[23]
|
Just a wily ol' scamp.
Quote:
n 1998, Kathleen Willey alleged Clinton groped her without consent in the White House Oval Office in 1993.[39] Kenneth Starr granted her immunity for her testimony in his separate inquiry.[40][41]
Sandra Allen James, accused Clinton of sexually assaulting her in his hotel room in 1991. She claimed that he exposed himself to her and forced her to conduct oral sex on him while they were sitting on the couch.[46]
|
Yep, no one knew in the 90s that groping women against their consent and forcing them to perform oral sex was wrong. How could he have known better? That's just what everyone did back then, like your dad's buddies! We can't relitigate the past based on modern standards.

If they reanimated Genghis Khan and asked him to speak at the DNC, yes I would have a bit of a problem with that. Wouldn't you?
The correct number of sexual assault allegations for one of your key speakers to have is 0. Trying to defend it or compare it to Trump is blue-MAGA partisan B.S.
If rapist is too strong a word (it's not), can we settle on "serial sexual predator?"

"The other people are bad/worse, so we should be allowed to have our own rapist speak" is certainly a position to take.

I'm not quite in the midwest (western PA is close but not quite) but I can vouch for that. This guy is everyone's favorite uncle. Seeing how much his kids and wife love him is great. The more I see him, the more I love that Harris chose him as running mate. I think he absolutely crushed that speech, the good old coaching instincts came out.

Having a 2 term democrat US president speak at the democratic convention is certainly a hill to die on.

Watching clips of the DNC and RNC and the differences in speakers has to be like a kindergarten class going up against the Toast Masters. These two parties are not even on the same planet. I would be horribly embarrassed to be associated with republicans right now. The party is making you look like a bigger fool than they are.

So are you not a fan of innocent until proven guilty? I'm not saying that Clinton isn't a dirtbag, but no accusation against him has been proven, which cannot be said for Trump
