Spector might get tasked with grooming the poodle as punishment for his earlier transgression last week.

It's still amazing that Staples can put out a piece without knowing what picks those offersheets were worth.

Have a heart! If Staples only wrote about things he actually knows, he would never get to write anything at all.

If the IT guy is in charge of content then they're running their IT department incorrectly. but... IT is always the last to know.

Maybe it's like a Gratton situation - when the Flyers signed him, they got 4 1sts, but they traded them back to Philly for Renberg and Dykhuis

The best part of the story is that Tampa may have had fake owners lol.

It wasn't that long ago before Twitter where nhlpa.com was the place that routinely had players on new teams before trades were reported.

They would probably be smart to pass on both and bring in a dman like Barrie or Scandella. That $4.6MM on the books for next year makes it tough for Pissy and Bouch Bomb re-up contracts.

As of right now the Oilers have $1.9M of cap space without Broberg and Holloway on the roster. That's with 13 forwards, and 6 d-men signed on the roster.
Their forwards are deep enough they probably don't need Holloway at $2.3M (although personally I'd match that).
And on defense they probably could use another body, but I don't think Broberg at $4.6M makes sense in their cap structure.
If I were the Oilers I'd be going into the season with this roster, leaning on the stars and forward to get you into a playoff spot, and then when you have a ton of cap space at the deadline due to cap accrual you try to bring in actual top end talent to put you over the top ($1.9M in cap space they have right now, is more like $8M or so at the deadline I think).
I'd rather be able to add a dman like Burns, Provorov, Chychrun etc at the deadline than give Broberg $4.6M right now.

I like that line of thinking, but the thing is - genuine question - do they have enough (any?) assets to trade for someone like that? I mean I guess there is the 2026 or 2027 first or whatever they are at now, but still...

Ha. Or that you can't just automatically trade them right after matching - sigh. He didn't like me pointing that out, I got the block for that one...

Except back in the day it was exactly the IT team that had the information first so they would have the update and web page ready to go. Think in terms of webmasters…
Today, publishing and content management/creation is usually done by marketing people using content management tools. IT just has to keep the server from crashing!!
So agreeing with you in 2025.
