Assuming they now match on Broberg and assuming Bouchard gets 10 million a year the Oilers will have 31 million locked into their top 4 dmen next year. This year really is a burn the boats year.

The Oilers only have a 4th,6th and 7th going into next draft.
You have to think that the 2026 1st and 2nd are in play at the trade deadline.

Grier blinked on this one. Really dumb of him to take just a 3rd round pick. From the rumours, most teams were asking for at least a 2nd/1st round pick. Pressure was on Bowman. Grier looks bad on this one IMO.

Emberson was a waiver pickup, so the sharks basically get a 3rd from Edmonton, and 950K (emberson s salary) off of ceci for one year.
Not horrible work, as Edmonton would give that to somebody somewhere.

Poor Broberg. Isn’t he the player that had asked for a trade before because he really doesn’t want to be in Edmonton? Now they match and he has to stay there for at least a year . Considering the contract he is probably stuck there for 2 years.

IMO Edmonton should be matching Holloway and letting Broberg go. This trade feels like it's setting them up to potentially do the exact opposite ... we'll see
