I agree, Poor clock management by the coaches. Should never have come down to the last play of game field goal.

Decided to take my boy to the game. We sat up a bit higher so I tried to watch the play away from the ball, not easy to do. What I really noticed is how poor both the o-line and the d-line are, that's where the Stamps are consistently being beat.

Yup.
The D is getting better at getting pressure, but holy smokes they were selling out on that at the expense of stopping the run.
Said it last week and saying it again...this club cannot get out of its own way.

Team has had no identity for years now. I appreciate and respect everything DD has done here but things are just rotten at this point. No identity, no direction whatsoever. Maybe it's an aging Huff problem too that has gotten them to this point but they are just an average talent, average coached, average clutch factor team at this point and that is BORING. You can get 18,000 fans in attendance taking chances trying to be great even if it fails. Whatever they are doing now is boring and no one cares to show up to watch.

Flames blew it years ago, this is just the end result that can't be undone. They treated the Stamps experience like it was the Flames experience (which they are also in the process of ****ing up with a family needing to spend $250+ to get their kids into a game for a night).
They used the old business attitude of 25000 fans at $50 average ticket is better than 36850 fans at $33 average ticket because SIMPLETONS DON'T UNDERSTAND MATH!!!!! (have had that shoved in my face a few times on CP in regards to the Flames/Stamps while trying to explain the importance of young/future fans that only attend if parents can afford to be there, aka your next generation of season ticket holders).
Flames employed the same archaic strategy trying to apply standard business model to sports business model, when the Stamps is even worse for going that route than an NHL team.

They're losing like 5k average fans per game each season. Normally you'd cheer on the stability of an NHL franchise running a CFL franchise but at this point I can't see how a competent/passionate local owner could be any worse than these R words treating the Stamps like a little league funding project.
I'm so F'n jealous every time I see the things that the BC Lions are doing to attract fans to a dying league, while the Flames just let the team die with the league. We're to the point this season where 25k (previously a weak attendance night) would be a major triumph for the Labour Day Classic. What a sad time for a once proud franchise and fan base. It's almost over.

If average ticket price is $30 that's $530 grand x 9 games = 4.7Mill. That excludes parking and concourse. Prob another million bucks for those, maybe more, takes it 5.7Mill. That pays for players and coaches with a cap of 5.5mill. They prob make another 250grand on their merchandise.
Office staff/operations etc make diddly squat but arent part of the cap.
This is just off the cuff, paper napkin calcs and I also think average attendance over the year will be greater than 17.6/game.
Quick check on average to date this year = av of 19.9k per game
This article by 3downnation suggests revenue close to 17-23M in 2021 https://3downnation.com/2021/03/21/t...ip-has-failed/
and this article suggests revenue was 18.4M in 2022. https://growjo.com/company/Calgary_S..._Football_Club
Lots of expenses so in the end I think they still make money, but not a lot.

Add in the TV money, they likely are a bit better than break even.
Also found this interesting...from last season.
Lots of things contributing to the Stamps issues but none moreso than the stadium itself IMO.

Bad stadium , no named stars to market around , boring team , expensive experience , and killing all the good value adds / fun factor (tailgating , events before , etc )
You couldn’t pay me to go to a game nowadays .

It's not a great situation for sure. Apologies to Begelton who's been a solid WR but the team's best player for the past few seasons is its place kicker which tells you all you need to know about why it's a below .500 team that's treading water. As I have said before there is nothing on the roster that points to better days ahead. Philpot will be a really good CFL player one day but it will be on his next team. The way this organization is being run makes it impossible to field a really good team. Once you add in the stadium situation, there's just a dark cloud over the organization that feels like we are heading back to the SOS days of the 80's.

Football is really simple. Win the battle in the trenches and you win most of the time.
The amount of 3 and 4 man pressure doesn't help when they don't get pressure. They need more exotic blitz packages.
Really disappointed in Vaughters. He seemed to really come on right before his injury last year, this year he has been a ghost.
Those dominant Stampeder teams steamrolled offensive lines. Micah Johnson was usually on the QB before the ball was snapped.

Demerio Houston has been very good for the Stamps this season, but he needs to knock that ball down rather than going for the pick. Give credit to Acklin for sticking with it and making a fine catch, but he shouldn't have even had the chance to catch that ball.

This happens a lot in both the CFL and NFL. Interceptions are a stat they display, pass knockdowns not so much. Its a highlight play.

Return teams haven’t been great of late either. Ottawa benefited from several short field situations. The team really isn’t great in any phase of the game right now but this is what 4-6 teams look like.

That's such a confusing chart. It says "actual fan count after week 3". So it an average fan count of all home games for each team?
But then BC started with two straight home games, two of which was nowhere near 53788, so their average over three games would be much lower and not 103% capacity. But it also wasn't the week 3 attendance for BC as their 103% capacity was the home opener.
So the best I can come up with is that they threw this together and just got things wrong? Every team seems to have attendance from one game (but it varies which one game it is, not necessarily the most recent home game).
Then, they have Winnipeg at 61344, which appears it would be two home games added together (their capacity is around 33k, I believe), and then they give them 93% capacity. But they also gave them those two combined games as a 22% and therefore highest in the CFL share of attendance.
But why were they the only team that got two games in the graph while everyone else got one...from a random week.....or average of their home games......but not BC Lions, who got their largest attendance? Just a bizarre graph.
EDIT: Ah I see it was from last season, so BC must have had a sellout home opener last season as well, and that was their only home game in the three weeks. Doesn't explain Winnipeg at all, though.

It's combined attendance through week 3 for all teams. Most of the teams only had one home game with a few having two. Definitely a bit of a misleading chart.

Oh, I see Edmonton also would have had two, as there's no way they got 36k for one home game. So yeah, what a bonkers chart in terms of showing anything meaningful, lol. Like who shows a share of total attendance with unequal games played?
Calgary is only a 6% share!!!!!.... with one game vs Edmonton and Winnipegs two

McLeod Bethel-Thompson is once again the starting quarterback of the Elks, Ford ruled out.
QB isn't the only change the Ticats are making this week, James Butler will be a healthy scratch.
