"That's unusual. Usually players are forced to play through major injuries here in Edmonton..."

Ha ha ha. How much is Katz paying this guy under the table to not play for a year? They have been shopping him all summer with no takers and now he requires surgery? This is why the NHL needs to do something about LTIR as it's making a mockery of the salary cap.

Katz is probably just covering his Vig so all the Vegas Casinos he owes dont come and break his other wrist.

He won't recover until game 1 of the playoffs.

Can't wait for the inevitable "the NHL reviews all injuries and found no issues with how it was handled" statement.

Wasn't he just out golfing a couple of weeks ago, saying he was feeling good and looking forward to training camp??

Always has been. Teams delay surgery for this very reason. It’s not right but many contending teams have done it before. Ridiculous that it hasn’t been fixed.

It’s the exact same thing that Tampa did with Kucherov. All off season, everyone was wondering how they would get under the cap and were confused about why they weren’t making any moves to get under the cap. Then just before the season started, he opted for surgery that could have easily been scheduled earlier in the off season. Then they kept him on LTIR right until the playoffs.
Fortunately, Kane isnt as consequential.

Kane said in the POs that he had a sports hernia. But the GM then said "no, it's a hip injury".
I wonder if the Oilers would stoop to getting a player to have uneccesary surgery.

They said he is fine during the summer and just needed rehab.
The NHL better investigate this.

You know they won't though. They didn't investigate Smith, they won't with Kane either.

He's not Kucherov. He will be useless after sitting out the entire season.

To be fair, he was just as useless having played the entire season
