I had to google it. It's a Bill Parcells quote (which he in turn attributes to Pat Riley). So, not old and not NHL.

Again, what “discount”? They didn’t win lol. They’re desperately wanting them to take heavy discounts because they effed up on other deals and can’t get out of them.

What Staples and the rest of Edmonton's media clowns fail to realize is that the team has zero leverage here. None. The Wonder Twins have all the power in this situation, and they're gonna get whatever they want no matter what. If the Oilers aren't willing to fork over what they're asking for, there are several other teams who will.

"Can there be a beach here?"

"Is it possible that this is NOT a backwater craphole town?"

Can someone please help me with a clue in the NY Times Sunday crossword puzzle? 17 down is "Loser in the 2024 Stanley Cup final" Five letters, starts with O.

Considering all of the grief Oilers fans have given us since Tcachuck and JG left ( Oilers broke the Flames), it's going to be so sweet to see their two best players leave in similar circumstances.

I’m honestly not one of those fans happy they left the flames. I enjoyed the fact both teams had some semblance of relevancy and played each other in the playoffs( granted being on the winning side of that helps). I see their leaving as yet another obstacle to the Canadian teams building winners. It is razor thin for the Canadian franchises if you can’t ever extend players. You get one shot in the window and then it’s rebuild time while other teams can be competitive for a lot longer.

Now the oilers management combined with some weirdness due to COVID means the franchise effed up primary window for the Mcdavid and Drai. I also complete understand why you will cheer heartily if they leave, I don’t really blame you. But it will also continue to demonstrate that the path to victory, as evidenced over the last 30 years is nigh impossible for the smaller market teams.

Lol. Safe to say that the “Two Mutts Hockey Podcast” has no idea how contract talks are actually going, and they’re just making s*** up. Bunch o’ clowns.

very well said and i agree, there is nothing to cheer for when canadian markets lose elite players to american teams. even the college rules (Adam Fox) and no trade clauses given to even average players, further cripples these small market cdn teams

And the spin on Kane is pretty “special” too. LA and the Ducks might be interested in Kane, but only for the price Edmonton would have to pay to get him off the books. It also looks like the Oilers plan to LTI him isn’t going to work and Kane won’t lift his no-trade clause (the only truthful thing they said) so Edmonton is stuck bringing him back and will have to find some other way to get to compliance with the cap.

Even if they sign Holloway and Broberg for a combined $2.4 million, that still puts them nearly $3 million over the cap with a full roster. Kulak and Ceci better be watching their kneecaps.

Any other franchise would’ve built well enough around those two to win a few cups already. Oilers franchise is a joke upstairs.

My first sentence of the second paragraph fully acknowledged that fact, that said the rest stands. Even with better management things can go against your way and if the oilers, flames, jets, Ottawa, possibly Montreal, Vancouver even and maybe even the leafs have only the second contract as their window things are razor thin.

I’m not happy you guys need to rebuild. I wanted the rivalry and I think it’s only a harbinger if things to come. I really hope I’m wrong.

Like I said I can understand why from a fan of the flames you will chuckle at us if they leave. I just wish neither of these teams have to go through what they do.

Just want to reiterate CROSBY is the best player in the nhl. 2 way player hisnwhole career and had won a cyp and scored gold on home I've in the first 5 years of his career. So very close to 2 cups and a gold in 5 years, and still to this day a top 2 way player as he edges on retirement. McDavid dosent hold a candle. He is fast but IMO is not generational by standards. He is a great skater.. story ends there. Sidney was 22 when he scored the golden goal . 2 cup appearances and a Olympic gold win. Mcdavid is 27 and has 1 cup appearance wear they are lucky to see game 5.
