What's the point? Anyone that can claim Trump is not racist, or not a liar, or not one of the many other things that have been proven over and over, is clearly not living in actual reality.

Part of the issue is people buy in, for whatever reason, often legitimate.
Then, as the group shifts, they shift too. Then there's the divide, and friends and family turn. They're isolated and left only with the others.
Now, if they went against the group, they'd be ousted. Who would they have? Literally no one. So they double down on the group, as they'd be alone without it.
That's why facts don't matter.
If they accept the facts, the reality, they'd be alone.

You mean like the people claiming genocide in Israel but then actively excusing the Democrats for supporting it and even going so far as to say 'yeah but the Republicans would be worse', as if to say that well its not really the worst kind of genocide yet, just a minor level genocide so far.
Accepting facts is hard, you're 100% right about that.
^ Can we please for the love of #### not turn this into the Israel / Palestine thread. That thing is a disaster, keep it in there.

Granted, some people will always miss the point and be a******* instead. However, on the whole, this place is pretty accepting and you'll always have a place here if you want it.

For those who want a glimpse into what the right-wing disinfo media ecosystem is doing to people in the US, here's a documentary I can't recommend enough:

Have any of the musicians whose material TFG has stolen sued his sorry arse?
It gets complicated - more than it used to be - because sometimes they've granted a general licence and don't have control over who buys rights to use it.

Not that he wasn't already a complete lunatic, but Trump really seems to be unravelling lately and getting crazier by the day. We still have 3 months to go, which seems like an eternity. They might not even make it to the Sept. 10th debate before the guy has a total nervous breakdown.

Normally they can't in the U.S. if the artists are part of BMI/ASCAP and Trump's campaign pays royalties. If you don't want him using your music you need to revoke his ability to use it through those performance rights agencies. If he plays it after that then you can sue, but IANAL.

Just watched Walz speaking at the rally in Philly. Great one-liners! “I can’t wait to debate the guy (Vance). If he’ll get off the couch and show up….See what I did there?”
Everything Trump and Project 2025 wants to do will benefit the 1% and hurt everyone else. Not that it should be a surprise to anyone, but it can't be emphasized enough.
Wondering if others are in the same boat I am here:
This is the first US election where I am almost totally unfamiliar with a candidate going in.
Sure I have read about Harris, her early career, connections to Montreal, etc. But until she was added to the Biden ticket and became VP I don’t think I had ever heard of her.
She certainly is not impressive. Those videos of her rambling on about today and tomorrow, and wokeness and Venn diagrams are rather concerning.
I guess my (rhetorical) question is, why is she deserving of the office?
