I still get some value from Twitter, but increasingly have wade through (and block) extreme posters from both sides of the political spectrum - and most of them are just random people spouting nonsense, and certainly not aligned with anyone I actually follow.

Why does everything have to be ruined?

9/11, 2020 and Jan 6th were just the proof that humanity just can't have nice things. We were born to pay bills, suffer and then die.

I cant imagine any mainstream company thinking advertising on Twitter is a good PR move these days, as a commercial platform its worthless

My day job is web developer and I manage website updates for my clients as well. In the past 2 months I've had 5 clients ask me to remove the X/Twitter logo/links from their sites because they don't use it anymore.

Obviously anecdotal, but is there any value for regular companies to be on there anymore?

Like any platform it's only as useful as the people you follow but as a marketing platform, it's become really low on the list of avenues companies think are beneficial.

LOL, this should be entertaining. Imagine basing a lawsuit on a speech given by Ben Shapiro that is surely based in fact and no bull#### whatsoever. How did this meathead end up in congress, anyway? WTF is going on in America?

LOL. That would be far more convincing an argument if Xitter was an open platform, but you need an account to use it. It's no longer open to the public.

Is this the dumbest lawsuit ever filed? Why exactly should companies be punished for choosing not to advertise on a specific platform? Isn't that what free market is all about? I'm guessing Elon's one hope is to get this in-front of a Trump appointed judge so he has some wheels to grease

EDIT: I'm guessing all the defense will have to do is show this video to the judge if it actually gets that far before being thrown out

THis seems to be all they are basing it on:

Quote:
The industry coalition has been under scrutiny in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, where a report last month from the Judiciary Committee accused GARM of cutting out conservative news sites and pressuring Spotify over Joe Rogan’s scientifically unfounded claims about Covid.

GARM, the report concluded, “likely violated federal antitrust laws” and could be shown to be “demonetizing certain viewpoints to limit consumer choice.”

I just don't see how you can force a corporation to advertise on a private companies website(America! Freedom!). Particularly when that website owner tells you to go #### yourself. But I'm not a law talkin' guy.

That’s why I’m still on Twitter.

I’m afraid Musk will sue if I leave.

Discovery, where musk would have to sit for a deposition, would likely end the lawsuit. Its what usually ends these types of revenge suits.

Imagine being the richest person in the world and willingly spending your time on this. If I had even a tiny fraction of his money, I can think of a zillion more rewarding things to do with my time. Be more like Gates or Buffett. You barely ever hear from them.

Keep in mind his goal with this acquisition was never about money, he knew that. This is about information control, influencing elections/news/reality.

I kind of get that, but, wouldn’t you rather just be a socialite, partying with no worries? He doesn’t gain anything that he doesn’t already have from these weird machinations. I am definitely wired differently than him, but with all of the money in the world, political scheming and acting like a James Bond villain wouldn’t be what I’d spend my time on. He’s relatively young, has billions… I’d be more like Richard Pryor in Brewster’s Millions and dreaming of ways to have fun and spend that money.
