Out of all of Tony's goomahs, he was in love with Gloria Trillo. She didn't even feel like a goomah more like another wife for him.

When she tossed that steak at him, they said they did that scene many times. Uncle Jun asking him if he's been eating steak. Also Tony was really laughing during that scene when Bobby comes dressed like that, apparently he had something in hand that made him crack up.

There's always a few scenes in every series that you have a tough time re-watching. I always think of Dutch strangling that stray cat in The Shield.

What would The Sopranos' be? Dr. Melfi's rape? Ralph killing Tracee? Chris killing the dog? Valentina catching on fire?

When Tony caught some sleep Davey racked up another $40K by lying and saying that Tony had approved it. So at that point he was $50K in debt and it was his fault entirely, then they found out he owed Ritchie money too, then when Tony went to collect the first vig payment Davey had no money at all to give him.

Tony isn't exactly a good guy, no loan shark is, but Davey screwed himself and his family all by himself. If Tony hadn't gave him that 10K he would have borrowed it from someone else and Ritchie probably would have killed him if Tony hadn't stopped him.
The fact Tony saw a whale and reeled him in is what makes Tony the scumbag. He saw it from day 1 where it would end up.

Yet Tony tried to talk him out of playing in the game and only relented when Davey begged him, then agreed to give him a small loan. Tony isn't a good guy by any stretch but Davey was a degenerate gambler who was going to ruin his life (and his family) no matter what Tony did.

Edit:
Just watched it again.

At the school.
Davey: "Listen, I heard through the grapevine that you're taking over your uncles game, you know the big one"
Tony: "Grapevine? you know if you listen close to that song it says believe none of what you hear and half of what you see"
Davey: "Nah it's just, you know me, I like to play a little"
Tony: "A little, forget it this games not for you"
Davey: "Nah you know I was just thinking it'd be a kick"
Tony: "David, you're a nice guy I like you okay? But trust me okay, this game's not for you. I don't want to see you get hurt. These guys they play deep."
Davey: "You know how many jockstraps I sold last week?"
Tony: "Not enough for this game okay, forget it"

Then Davey plays in Ritchie's game and racks up $8K in debt that Tony doesn't know about. He shorts Ritchie on the vig payment at which point he is warned and cut off from that game. Then he shows up at Tony's game unannounced.

After some small talk
Davey: "So what's the game?"
Tony: "Seven Card"
Davey: "Was that Frank Sinatra Jr in there?"
Tony: "Ya, he's a friend of my uncle, he flies in"
Davey: "Wow, this really is an executive game. So what do you think?"
Tony: "There's a resemblance"
Davey: "No no no, I mean the game, you think I can take these guys or what?"
Tony: "Davey, this isn't the game for you"
Davey: "Oh, c'mon. What are the chances of me getting this close to a game like this again? C'mon Anthony, let me sit in just once"
Tony: "I don't do business with outside friends, you understand"
Davey: "Hey, do I have to show your high school prom picture to these guys? All kidding aside, I appreciate your position but c'mon Tony, I'm a big boy"
Tony: "What are you holding?"
Davey: "I didn't really expect to gamble tonight"
Tony: "You need 5 g's just to sit in this game" grabs him by the arm and pushes him toward the exit.
Davey: "Oh c'mon can't you float me, you know short term"
Tony: "Davey, don't say short if you don't mean short. All kidding aside. You understand what I'm saying to you?"
Davey: "Ya of course, hey you don't have to explain business to me"
Tony pauses for a bit and thinks about it, then tells Christopher to give him 5K credit and wishes Davey good luck.

There is no scenario where Davey didn't screw himself.

Not to mention Davey won a nice pot that probably would have gotten him close to even with Richie but he decided to keep playing.

Yeah Davey screwed himself, he was a degenerate gambler from before.

The other part that is hilarious is when they meet at the high school graduation. He can't even get any coffee, while Tony sips says and says "sorry to hear about you and Charlene" Davey "It's Christine"

I know I talked about in a previous post about the College episode, its actually ranked the #2 best episode in the history of TV, but it actually left a very big mark on TV. Seems like HBO was really nervous about Tony taking out Feby, so in a deal Chase made Feby a drug dealer who sold to teens.

Also the food slang on the show was something. They also have a cookbook.

Gabagool, Regot, Manigot. I always was interested in that dish that Richie brought Carm for now for whenever. Tripe, stomach lining with tomatoes lol.

I wanna say Steve Schirripa said on the Talking sopranos podcast that it was a big dildo. The laugh from Tony was genuine.

I think one the biggest losses (up their with Robin Williams) was James Gandolfini passing so soon. By all accounts he was a great guy. He personally gave cast-members $33,000 in order for the show to survive. Everyone on the show spoke very highly of him, I don't think there's ever been a negative word said.

https://www.businessinsider.in/enter...w/88420561.cms

He was a marvelous actor as well. Going back to his smaller character roles in Get Shorty, Crimson Tide, and even The Mexican. Then his best work (outside of Sopranos) was probably in Enough Said a few years before his death. He had a remarkable career. I'm almost certain we should have seen more Sopranos if he didn't die young.

Although I can't believe he was only 37 when the show premiered back in 1999. He seemed rather fit throughout the series, but he looked much older than 37.

This show feels right up my alley and I've tried 2 times now to get into it. Ive watched season 1 twice and halfway through season 2 and i cant seem to get into it. Just feels extremely slow to me. Does it pick up? Im a big fan of slow burn shows (breaking bad, GOT) but this one just isnt gripping me

Well, everyone in this thread is likely going to tell you that yes, it does pick up! But that it's also a great slow burn show as well. In my opinion, if you've tried watching it twice now and have even gone through season 1 in its entirety and still don't like it, then it's probably not for you, unfortunately!

Any cool easter eggs from the show? My favorite one is when *kitty kat* (CP filters) is already dead, but he is seen in the reflection of a mirror on a closet door in a funeral home that one of the guys opens to put away his jacket. Didn't catch that until my 3rd or 4th watch.

Yeah I would agree, if you can't get into it especially in season 2 when it really picks up this isn't for you.

I also don't know what you mean by pick ups?

I think that is Tony's house not the funeral home. He pulls out a bottle of liqour.

Reminds me of my uncle who had bottles hidden all over his house lol. I went into his garage and he had a old stove and opened up the oven and whipped out a bottle of vodka.

Yeah, I wrote the post on memory and then didn't revise it after I found the video. Memory is bad now!
