You’re just mad there aren’t more racists to pump your tires.

Evangelicals wish they could get away with what he does, but probably more along the lines of the raping and the Epstein’s island stuff.

Too far man. Would you say the same about Jews or Muslims? And if you’re going to generalize, note that the alleged visitors to Epstein’s island are almost all white. I guess we all want to be pedo rapists?

Let’s try to keep CP above this level

Spoiler!

McCain straight up telling his supporters to "not be scared" of his opponent. How the GOP has pooed on this man and his legacy is an embarrassment. Forcing Palin into his campaign and then smearing him for the rest of his life for doing nothing but just attempting to work for Americans.
Man, what a refresher it is to hear again that level of civility, respect and integrity in the political discourse, even in the face of what can seem like insurmountable differences between candidates and parties.

What a sad state American politics has come to be today because of Trump and the GOP, who have doubled down on stupidity, immaturity, false information and intentional chaos. John McCain would be even more disgusted to see what they have become since his passing. How anyone can support a party that acts the way it does, says populist schlock and appeals to the absolute lowest common denominator of human being is beyond me.

Fair. I’ll be more specific - evangelicals that support Trump.

But you’re still ok calling them rapists and pedos? Are you ok with people calling teachers pedos and groomers?

Technically they aren’t racists or pedos if they just *wish* they could get away with it.

Alrighty then, saying someone wishes they could be a pedo or rapist is fine as long as the language is precise.

This concern for the good name of evangelicals made me look it up and it does seem there’s a bit of an epidemic for SA and covering it up in the evangelical community

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...elical-church/

Quote:
Over 2016 and 2017, Mullen found 192 instances of a leader from an influential church or evangelical institution being publicly charged with sexual crimes involving a minor, including rape, molestation, battery and child pornography. (This data did not include sexual crimes against an adult or crimes committed by someone other than a leader.)

His findings help explain a 2014 GRACE report on Bob Jones University, one of the most visible evangelical colleges in the country. The study showed that 56 percent of the 381 respondents who reported having knowledge of the school’s handling of abuse (a group that included current and former students, as well as employees) believed that BJU conveyed a “blaming and disparaging” attitude toward victims. Of the 166 people who said they had been victims of sexual abuse before or during their time at BJU, half said school officials had actively discouraged them from going to the police. According to one anonymous respondent, after he finally told the police about years of sexual abuse by his grandfather, a BJU official admonished him that “[you] tore your family apart, and that’s your fault,” and “you love yourself more than you love God.” BJU officials declined to comment for this article.
Huh I’d have thought it was just a throwaway joke before the outrage but now I see it looks to be based in some pretty strong reality. Worrisome. A bit of a long read but worth the time

I don't know exactly why you got modslapped but you didn't just disagree with DEI. You claimed it was the reason for the Trump assassination attempt, using blatant misinformation to back it up.

The majority of people in this country consider Trump bad, for not only the U.S., but the security and safety of Canada and the rest of the world. I don't wish him dead, but the day his influence is no longer felt on the political stage will be a good one. If that means him dying then, while I don't wish for it to happen, I won't mourn his passing. A lot of people feel the same so don't be shocked when people express those views.

I love seeing guys like you parrot the term "radical leftists" when the majority here are conservative or centrist. There's nothing radical about a bunch of oil and gas industry office workers, lawyers, and small business owners.

Those are awful numbers. I don’t know if churches are worse than other human organizations (it seems like it) but the extra layer of hypocrisy reinforce my position as an atheist.

And trust me, I’m not concerned about the good name of evangelicals. The degree to which they support Trump and overlook his manifest faults is another great example of hypocrisy.

I’m just pushing back against broad brush slurring if people I don’t agree with, as much as I disagree with those slurs against people I support. If someone wants those kinds of interactions go to Twitter. Let’s try to keep CP somewhat civil.

This is something I always laugh at too. Not being right-wing doesn't mean, by default, that we're 'radical left'. This is quite the misnomer and uneducated take, and something the right likes to parrot over and over. Most people are centrist, or within the immediate orbit of the centre (slightly left / slightly right). 'Radical left' is an insecure reaction to the dangerous deviation that the right have put themselves in from the middle of the political spectrum over the last eight years.

Well, we're also all Canadian and from a large city in Canada. From the perspective of the average US voter we're all pretty far left.

That's true, but even in the U.S. access to abortion, increasing renewable energy, reasonable gun control, and LGBT rights all have the mainstream support of the majority.

Even the real radicals like AOC and Bernie aren't anywhere close to being the Communists they're portrayed as. It's just GOP scare-mongering because they have nothing else to contribute. Climate change? Drill, baby, drill. Gun violence? Arm everyone. Income inequality? Give the richest more and more, and #### brown people.
