Wasn’t Draisaitl’s home town discount deal contract all but signed and delivered?

That won’t affect his ability to slewfoot and spear and fight due to slew feet and spears.
Oh wait. 2 out of 3.
Slewfoot, spear and dive. 3 out of 3. None affected by age.

McDavid would lose his explosive speed in his early-mid 30s and still be a PPG player. His vision and playmaking won't fade.

His defense will get worse though.
As much as he cheats now for offense he will be exposed even more when he starts to lose his speed.
Points will come but a cup won't. One trick pony.

Yeah lol, that's typically how these long term deals work out. Anymore giving Mcdavid his next contract is getting a franchise elite player for 4-6 years, with the last couple flattening out. That not a suprise and that's not an own.

Yeah, he'll probably still be pretty good...
For Toronto.

McDavid has still been very lucky on the injury front. Every player had to fight the injury bug eventually (Gretzky, Crosby, Neely, Lemieux, etc...).

i had a little fun with my neighbours this morning playing a trick on their visitors. they currently have family visiting from alberta - it's my neighbour's brother, sister in law and their young kids. the brother is a canucks fan, the sister in law is an INSANE oilers fan - and their vehicle has the oilers license plate.
the sister in law had to grab something from their vehicle this morning. once she was back inside i got a text from my neighbour and zipped across the street. in only a matter of seconds that ugly oilers plate was replaced with this...
IMG_4285 by bc-chris, on Flickr
i sent a quick note to my neighbour letting them know 'the job' was done. it was at this point that i noticed the neighbours above me were watching me with interest (he's a cop and his wife is kinda the busy body of our area - and they are blast!). once they realized what i had done they were howling - they thought it was great!
i then get a reply from the original neighbours that all the kids are going to come outside to 'play' (their kids knew what we were up to). as a result the flames plate is quickly spotted and the kids run in to get the parents.
the brother is laughing
the sister in law is totally confused/dumb founded/etc.... she had just been outside and was sure she would have noticed a flames plate on their vehicle.
after about a minute my neighbours came outside to join their guests and behold the majesty and glory that now adorned the rear of the gmc yukon. i came outside pretty quick after that... wearing my florida panthers tee shirt. at this point the brother almost hit the ground he was laughing so hard. the sister in law, while not overly impressed, did find it a little funny.
i swapped the plates back and felt inclined to invite them over for our monthly re-watch of game 7. again, the brother thought that was great, the sister in law... not so much!
i got another text from my neighbour saying that after they were all back inside that they we laughing pretty hard over that prank - i'm sure it will be something they talk about for a while!
and a big shout out to 'Dion' for hooking me up with the flames plate a couple of years ago. i think he's kind of responsible for enabling this behavior! ha!

His playmaking relies on creating space with his speed and drawing all of the attention to him from defenders, then dishing it quickly to a wide open teammate.
If his speed fades, this fades too.

Still no Drai signing? I thought Stauffer said it a was a done deal?? Weird.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if this dragged into the regular season, causing a massive distraction for Team Destiny.

Yeah, especially after he got injured his first season. I remember Ryan Pinder calling him Collar McBroken back then
Yeah he's somehow managed to avoid it ever since. Wonder if it starts creeping in again as he gets older here

He did have the knee issue that spurred the most embarrassing documentary on the planet, but that occurred at the tail end of a playoff free season

According to his agent if it doesn't get done in August, then a deal isn't getting done so it's put up or shut up time for the Oilers as they are on the clock.

I don't get what the hold up is if draisatl wants to sign.
Negotiations should be draisatl writing what he wants on a piece of paper and the Oilers agreeing to whatever he wants.

My Oilers? Lol have you been paying attention in-between making up rumors?

Any one approaching UFA status who opts to stay there long term at any price has a few key brain cells missing.
