At one point I we had 4 (!!) of the portable ACs that we'd gathered over time. Then a couple of them started to die and rather than replace them we decided to do the house.

Same thing, 2021 was just too much, 2022 we had it put in by April and started using it in May that year I think.

Very well spent $$.

I wish I didn't care that getting AC is just throwing gas on a fire.

We run AC like April till October. The few bucks it costs is well balanced by the comfort we get.

This is a big reason I'm getting solar panels. While there is no totally "clean" power, it feels better to at least be able to run the AC without burning a bunch of natural gas somewhere else to do it.

Here in the 'hood it was an absolute deluge but it only lasted for about 10 minutes.

We need British rain. The kind where its like a gentle drizzle all day not just "here's a ton of water for 10 minutes, hope you're good for a month!"

The problem with coastal rain is that instead of getting 10 minutes or an afternoon you’re getting three days or 15

I miss the good old super loud thunder storms we used to have growing up back in Ontario. I recall when the lightening struck, we would start counting until we heard the thunder, and for every 5 second interval the storm was one mile away. If the thunder happened immediately after the lightening, the storm was right on top of you, and was often loud enough to cause some shatting. My old dog used to be petrified, and would dive under my bed.

That doesnt bother me much. A little water never hurt anyone.

We5re getting the edge of the storm in High River. Lots of wind and a few drops of rain.

I stand corrected. Just got some marble sized hail and a lot of rain.

Heading back from Chain Lake and it was absolute armageddon around Long View. Pulling a boat down the highway and had to pull over at one point as I completely lost the highway due to torrential rain. Wind was so bad I was worried about flipping the trailer. Wind blowing sideways across the highway and hail so bad I thought I'd lose the windshield. Storms never worry me all that much but was getting genuinely concerned with that one.
