This has got to be one of the most team friendly deals the Flames have signed in recent memory.

Yes he is.

2 years makes the most sense both for the player and the team. If he has 2 good years then you give him an 8 year contract. If he struggles in one year, and does well in another you probably give him a 3 year contract with an AAV of $2.5-3.5M. If Wolf falters then he might get another year at league min.

All I can get

Devin Cooley is on a similar two-year deal (second year is 1-way).
Cooley and Wolf will battle for the backup spot behind Vladar.
I can see Wolf being sent down every once in a while to avoid giving him PTSD.

Great deal for the Flames. I thought Wolf would cost at least 1.5m-2m per year.

I think it's more just a realization that he may need to work on some things still and they want the option to do that in the AHL if it comes to that. His long term projection is still great, but it's not like he blew anyone away at the NHL level yet.

It's cool to have Wolf.

The Devils were not a better team last year, when Daws played most of his games.

Wolf himself has the motto you win or you learn. This is proof he knows his game is still in learn mode to make the jump and its what i like most about him....humility....
Im good and have a chance to be even better if i just work on this a little longer . Takes the pressure off himself , shows everyone hes teachable and makes you want to support him more .
Not much different than Coranato being told your game needs work and him accepting it but putting in that work required ie...skating .
Wolf setting an example for others to see it really cool and will pay off huge down the road. Why couldn't this have hapened for Irving, Ortio and that other goalie who had thr hip surgery (not Vladar) whose name escapes me?

I see it as a fair deal for both sides. Wolf hasn't proven that much yet, but has played some games at the NHL level so 100K more than the NHL minimum salary seems fair for his performance to date. He'll get a raise above 1M if he can stick in the NHL and play around 35ish games.

Seems a bit disrespectful for a guy that might be your future #1 goalie. I would have offered over a bit over 1 million/yr.

The only thing he proved so far is that he deserves more time to prove himself more. I don't think he did anything to deserve a big raise.

Oh man, 2-way is kind of disrespectful. Hope that doesn't hurt future negotiations. Makes it even more shocking that Vladar got his extention at that amount.

Yeah....he's an American player. Shouldn't be pissing him off, hopefully he's happy and it's just fans being over concerned.

I think Conroy is just leaving the door open in case they feel they need to sign a Veteran to carry some mail for a bit.
Maybe yes, maybe no, but the option exists.
