Absolutely, huge fan of those films especially the first 3. I still get nervous when I drive behind a lumber truck because of the opening scene of the 2nd one.

I watched Rocky 2 today, and while it's not as sharp as the first one, it's still a damn good film. Again this one deals more in melodrama rather than action with Rocky struggling to make a living after retiring before finally agreeing to a rematch with Creed.

Two bags of popcorn during Deadpool & Wolverine tonight. So dumb, so funny, very Canadian. I enjoyed myself. References to Saskatoon and then to the gays being right were worth it.

Deadpool & Wolverine was outstanding. It didn't take itself seriously at all, and the chemistry between Reynold and Jackman is pretty evident in the result. Even with as much that has leaked about the film over the last year it still had plenty of surprises. As a sucker for meta-humour I was overwhelmingly pleased with a lot of the jokes.
Please don't stop making Deadpool movies.

Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was ok. It was Inglorious Basterds lite. Overall reasonably enjoyable though.

A little late, but watched Oppenheimer. Really enjoyed it, lots of good acting. But when I checked the cast list, I see Sean Avery played a weatherman.

Went to M. Night's latest movie tonight... what a mixed bag Trap was.
I absolutely adored the first half of the movie. Very Hitchcockesque with how it was plotted and shot. A killer being cornered with no place to hide sounds straight out of a Hitchcock movie. I was very impressed and enjoying myself. Hartnett is fantastic throughout and plays a compelling killer. Even the concert scenes were well done, and it felt "real".
Some of the dialogue was rather weird, but that's typical for a Shyamalan movie. M. Night wrote the movie, so I'm not too surprised. He often writes movies in the ways aliens thinks humans speak (and act). So parts of it were rather weird... but the main structure of the movie with Hartnett, his daughter, and the concert were well done.
Then the second half hit and I was disappointed. Another character takes center stage, and puts in a very strange (out of place) performance. It felt like M. Night decided to make a peacock the star of the film. I don't want to say too much without spoiling the movie. It was tonally jarring and killed my enjoyment of the movie. It picks up a little at the end again once the peacock is gone, yet still a mixed bag overall. If your a fan of his work I would give it a recommendation. I liked it more than Knock at the Cabin Door, but it's nowhere near The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, or Signs. He had a chance here to make a classic if he didn't choose that awkward shift, but in this movie his nepotism ran strong.

Is it by any chance the character that his daughter plays?

You are correct good sir! She seems to be a fine musician, she should have stuck to that.

Please Don't Destroy the Treasure of Foggy Mountain.
I've had a fever for the past few days, so I have no idea if this movie is actually good or not. But I laughed out loud when watching it, which doesn't happen very often. On Prime.

Deadpool and Wolverine was such a weird experience for me. An extremely flimsy storyline for even a Marvel movie and a lot of the action scenes were ho hum. However Reynolds and Jackman's chemistry somehow manages to overcome the flaws as it's actually a pretty bad movie that you somehow walk out of enjoying.

2009s the Watchmen is my favorite superhero movie ever made and in my opinion the most rewatchable, too . Every time I watch it it feels like the first time
edit: #### me silly that movie is good, the ending is so perfect. most comic book movies have nuclear grade stupid endings, and this #### is just.. perfect.

Loved The Watchmen when it came out in 2009 but upon repeats and maturing it's a deeply flawed movie and a really juvenile take on the source material by the painfully untalented Zach Synder. The ending made more sense to me but what I hated was that Snyder picked a side. The graphic novels do a much better job of laying every characters motivations out out for you. In the movie it's protagonists antagonists. Way too simple but anything beyond surface level isn't easy for Zach

Watched Thelma last night! Enjoyed it very much. Light hearted, cheesey, well acted movie about a senior citizen who gets scammed out of ten grand and tries to reclaim it.
Some hokiness but lots of good laughs.
Richard Roundtree was great, but 94 year old June Squibb acted well for someone her age.

Trying to clean up the PVR after recording a bunch of old films last year while I still had TCM. Last night was The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
Yes, the style and acting are outdated by close to 80 years, but my god are these classic films entertaining and paced properly. Bogey was over the top but somehow it worked contrasted against Walter Huston (who really stood out) and Tim Holt. Kinda funny to realize Robert Blake played the kid trying to sell lottery tickets to the Dobbs character.
Is John Huston the only the person to direct both his parent and child to Oscar wins?
