No self-respecting Oilers fan should ever cheer for them again.

The Oilers have to sign every piece of garbage on the market. That's their motto.

And that's just recent history. What a P.O.S. organization.

I'd almost guarantee at this point that if possible they will sign Carter Hart once he's reinstated.
I don't know about that... I'd call allowing them to come back from a 0-3 deficit in the Stanley Cup finals resulting in a serious momentum high, only to lose in Game 7 is pretty soul crushing for them and their entire fan base.

Leave him alone; don't make him relive this for your hockey team goals.

He's now being used as a PR tool for this organization to make a bad hire; they don't actually give a toss if he cares.
Let's not forget that Beach wasn't the only victim. After Bowman let Aldrich get away with it, he gave a recommendation for Aldrich and Aldrich assaulted 16 year old kid after that. Then there is the matter that another player for the Hawks came forward anonymously to make a complaint as well as an intern who worked for the Hawks. I really hope that 2nd case goes ahead and puts Bowman back in the spotlight.

Beach doesn't speak for those guys and I doubt they were asked.

Duncan Keith is on their payroll and was on that team. One of the leadership team as well and seemingly, at a minimum, ignored the kid's well being.

Not only did he do nothing, he lied about knowing about it and refused to be interviewed in the investigation.

That won't be a problem, you can't have self-respect and be an Oilers fan.

Well, I’m here after a long day of work and that was filled with all sorts of emotions - none of them good - toward the team I’ve cheered for nearly 45 years. I commend and respect Stang for his response and courage of his conviction on this. I have not talked to a single fan of the team who thinks this was a good hire. I am angry, disappointed, bewildered, sad and more disallusioned then ever over the ills of pro sports (betting, fleecing taxpayers for hundreds of millions to the benefit of billionaires and in many cases a toxic bro culture that lacks accountability].

If I could just isolate this as a hockey hire I would be here saying I didn’t like it. It seems like the wrong hire based in his track record. If only that was the problem.

The fact the org was this arrogant, and this tone deaf to the reaction that came out when this started to leak is just a head scratcher. How, how can this have been the best path? Unfathomable.

I feel for the players. They are now being asked about this by their families. Mcdavid gets married on Saturday and this news comes out. The media will ask them about it when camps start, and in no way should they have to deal with this. This could prove to be an issue for the team and the margins between winning and losing are razor thin.

The only potential mitigating factor for me, is the words of Sheldon Kennedy. It’s helpful, I respect him. I don’t think Bowman should never work again, but this shouldn’t have been the first opportunity he got, I’m mad at the team for placing fans in this situation.

What am I going to do? I don’t know and I suspect some of you will judge me harshly for not having the conviction of Stang today.I respect and understand that but I need to think about this for longer than a few hours, but there’s a real chance I fall into his camp and this is it for me.

Today, and only today and on this issue E=NG.

It's not really mind blowing at all, nobody wants to move to that crap hole city so they're forced to take deplorables that no one else wants.

Naw, they always have had a choice. They've just consistently chosen the worst option for themselves.

The league knows the only fan base and culture that would accept these type of individuals involved in sexual misconduct this day and age is the Edmonton Oilers. Knowing that the league sets up opportunities for Oilers to improve their personnel and team withe these type of individuals.

They do this for two reasons,

1. They need to market McDavid and have him in the spotlight

2. The league needs the Cup to come back to Canada at least one year. It continually being won in the sunbelt states is not good for the league.

It is disgusting, but unfortunately that’s how things work now.

Its just astounding that the Oilers did this.

Let's pretend that Bowman is miles ahead of the next best candidate (he isn't), or that Bowman is close to being the best candidate (he isn't), it STILL wouldn't make sense to hire him given the s*** storm that they knew would follow.

For a team that just garnered a lot of positive attention with their cup run to go and make this move has to be one of the most ignorant decisions I've ever seen in pro sports.

They have set off an intentional grenade and now they will have to suffer the fallout from this self-inflicted explosion.

This should only make it more inevitable now that Leon & Connor will be playing their last season together in 24/25.

Which Hawk chased him around practice and call him the F word after finding out about the assault?

Was it Toews? Didn't the Oilers try to ge thim as well.
