Stan Bowman himself must be desperate for a job as this one will be primarily trying to salvage what he can for their bolting superstars.

A "hatchet man", as one poster around here called Jay Feaster.

Did stang say he wouldn't cheer for the Oilers with this hire? I can't remember. If so, I look forward to it

I think the blame culture can get out of hand, and I'm one to give second chances.

In situations like these I'd like to know who dropped the ball, because they likely all weren't carrying it.

Comes out during a playoff series if I remember correctly, so I give Quenville a pass because what organization wouldn't say "focus on game 4 and we will handle this"? I could be wrong clearly.

But the GM in the Spring isn't embroiled in game to game strategy or lineup decisions to the same extent, and as top of your hockey ops, you just can't give Bowman the same rope.

Won’t be long before the media and Oiler fans alike are singing good guy Bowman’s praises.

Vladimir Putin has also been hired as the community outreach and public engagement director.

What a scum franchise

No matter how much of a piece of #### you are, there's always a home for you with the Edmonton Oilers!

Didn't MacT kill someone?

Is it worse to kill someone or make someone kill themself.

Bad Take: Scotty Bowman was also overrated, turns out when you are a POS you can get people to do stupendous things.

Spector is in his basement, putting together the "Stan Bowman, humanitarian" article, as we speak. We should see it within 48 hours.

Yeah it's clear he was smack dab in the middle of the circle of people in that organization who didn't handle the situation properly. I suppose he's done the courses and all the other stuff a person has to complete in the eyes of the NHL to be reinstated but let's not forget that the NHL is an old boys club and this is Scotty Bowman's son so I can definitely see the skeptical side. I personally don't think his body of work is worth the risk.

He can have a second chance.

But not in the NHL.

He lost that privilege.

So gross.

Bob wants us to 'read the report'. Rather than do that, I suggest you read mine. Its more of a headline really but will save you a lot of time.

“The Edmonton Oilers have hired a disgraced former NHL GM as their next GM. The new hire was widely admonished and banned from the game for a large part of his career for knowing about, and subsequently supporting the organization in sweeping under the rug the fact that a team employee purportedly raped a player on the team multiple times under his watch as the team GM.”

He’s not even a good GM.

For most teams this would be a real head scratcher, for the Oilers this is right on point.

In fairness a lot of absolutely pissed off fans on social media. The outcry of disgust is very strict. Will see if it lasts.

The only reason Edmonton hired Bowman is because Katz wasn’t able to reanimate the corpse of Harold Ballard and make him the GM.

Edit: how many pages in will we get before we see one of the oilers fans make a post? I’ll guess page 12.

Such a classic oilers move. If only they follow it up with one of those legendary press conferences... this has potential to be on the order of "i know something about winning" "tier 2 fans" "up and down like a toilet seat" level comedy.

Of course, it's utterly despicable and the oilers continue to be an absolute blight on professional sports.
