Jasper National Park is closed too. Hope everyone is able to evacuate safely.https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/jasper
We are heading up to Prince George to see family on Wednesday. That drive likely just got 3 hours longer.

Not good, the forest around there was devestated by pine beetle. Lots of dry fuel, hopefully they can stop it.
They are saying the fire could reach town in 5 hours, that is not much time. Only way out is west toward bc.

I was out in K country this past weekend and the forest is so dry right now. Hopefully this isn’t catastrophic

We were lucky to have such a wet May/early June or this would have happened a lot earlier. Hopefully the weather cools a bit here with some rain sooner than later.

Showing showers on Wednesday night, and Thursday. Possibility of showers on Friday for Jasper. Cooler temps as well.

Hopefully there’s no loss of life, nor significant loss of property.

In Kamloops last night we had a crazy storm, tons of lighting, some rain, and gusting winds. Several lightning strikes started 2 fires within city limits which were put down.Made for a late night.
Currently the biggest fire near here is Shetland Creek, near Spences Bridge. It is 20k+ ha and threatening a lot of terrain.
There is a lot of summer left...hoping for the best as usual.

I was staying at Jasper House Bunglaows last night, we were evacuated about 10. It took 2 hours to get out of town, we could only go west, total #### show.

I’m curious where all of those people are staying. Going east would provide more options but that’s not possible. Are residents of other communities putting them up? Sleeping in cars? Hotels would be packed. Are restaurants able to handle the crush.

Both the East & South options out of Jasper were closed due to fire activity

It's probably 5-8 hours to get to Kamloops(assuming slow traffic) so I'd imagine a lot of people went there, and will make their way home eventually. Valemount has an emergency centre they are using.
