Yeah it was 6 times total including last year coming into this race. So today made it 7.

Pretty sudbued Piastri after the win. Probably not the way he wanted to win.
What a race though.

Hopefully Verstappen doesn’t win the championship by less than 7 points.

Must suck to be in attendance in Hungary. They would have had none of the drama from Norris and got stuck with a boring race.

Love it. Verstappen having a meltdown, McLaren botching strategy, Danny Ric getting screwed by strategy, stroll not letting Alonso by. So much drama.
McLaren might be the faster car but they ####ing suck at strategy. The fact Piastri is managed by Mark Webber makes it all the funnier.
I think given how inconsistent Oscar was driving Norris might have caught him had they pitted them in reverse. Then we could have gotten a proper multi-21 moment.

Norris, IMO, really ####ed that up.
He had the faster car after the pit stops and had he followed team orders early, they likely would have allowed him to race for the win. The team didn’t want their undercutting of Piastri to be the determining factor and if Norris gave up the position, he almost certainly would have overtaken him before the end of the race. By waiting until the end to give up position, overtaking Piastri would have looked bad and, as a result, he basically handed Piastri the win.
Just a messy drama that was a lot of fun to watch.

In 2006 Alonso led Michael by 25 pts with 9 races remaining. By 2 races remaining they were tied. And this was when 1st got 10 pts and 2nd got 8.
Lando now trails Max by 76, but it could have been 69 with 11 races left. There was a moment there with Max flying in the air where it could have been 59.
McLaren needs a shift in mentality...though I'm sure there was also an element of recompense for how they screwed Oscar at the last race.

I do wonder how much they would have wanted them to race in that final stint, especially when thrashing tires could leave them vulnerable to a SC. Of course they ended up thrashing anyways. And it's not exactly easy to pass, and Lando would've had 1 lap older tires, butn who knows.

The best Max is petulant Max.
I wonder if he tells the engineers things like "the car is sh*t" will be enough for them to make the car better.

I just finished watching. McLaren got this completely wrong. Norris was the better car. Piastri could have caught up, but didn't.

McLaren overreacted to Hamilton. And set up the whole situation. Hamilton was never a threat.

McLaren need to get out of their own way. It's there for the taking. Take it already.

woohoo! Picking first paid off. Only spun through quick but I think I won this week, 1 point ahead of Fuzz (unless I missed someone...) Tough break for woob, who called the Mclaren 1-2 but had them in backwards order.

It was a little funny listening to Crofty building the case brick by brick to rationalize Norris staying in front, but immediately switching to "he did the right thing".
McLaren just don't have the necessary championship mentality yet. But this may be the necessary kick to get them there. And getting Piastri the win is probably the right call in the long run. I'm not convinced that Lando (or George or Charles for that matter) have that dawg in them that's needed for a tight championship battle. I've seen fewer reasons for sketpicism from Oscar, so far.

Part of it is Lando isn't realistically challenging for the Driver's Championship this year. If those points gave him a chance to top Max I can see it.
But McLaren does have a chance at constructors this year given how Perez has been performing, especially if Perez gets replaced and whoever they go with takes a couple of races to get up to speed with the car.

Hungary Results are in!
Congrats to me and bizaro86 for taking top spot this week. And yes, I missed my picks . Maybe time to make a habit of it, lol. We both had 3 slotted and 9 Top 10.
Overall, things have really tightened at the top as 3thirty has a 7pt lead over agulati, but the race for 2nd is down to just 1 between me and agulati.
SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA is this weekend.
