If you want someone who will immediately come across as everything the GOP complains about when it comes to smug liberal elites, she projects all of it in spades.
She does win Michigan though. That said I don't know how she's viewed in neighbouring states so it may be a wash.

Very insightful interview from a former DOJ staffer who worked there during Trump's presidency.
The most chilling part was when she talked about members of congress voting along with Trump purely out of fear for the well being of themselves and their families.
Democracy literally CAN NOT WORK if representatives are directly intimidated from doing their jobs. USA is completely f'ed if Trump gets back in.
DOJ lawyers are uniquely placed to understand the danger Trump and the Republican party pose to the rule of law and democratic institutions. It is important that they speak out as this video demonstrates. Her analysis is correct across the board. It's an important interview and hopefully other DOJ lawyers, particularly former ones who can't be threatened in the same way as current employees, speak out in this way.
This goes back to my point in an earlier post that many Trump supporters simply don't understand the fabric of their own democracy, and that the "administrative state" they openly seek to dismantle is effectively the machinery of democratic government. Americans need to understand what's at stake when these institutions and principles are attacked.

This is why its so amusing to read the 'omg why do people support Trump' posts.
People are voting or leaning towards voting for Trump for many of the same reasons people will vote for PP here in Canada.
There are obvious issues that people are struggling with. Inflation, jobs, housing, etc, etc. I mean, can we really pin it down specifically?
They associate those issues with the current government in charge.
Therefore they will vote for other government.
Its really simple, but I guess if you're small minded its easy to do OMGMAAAGGAAA!!!!@%%EVIL!#@!@#!@#@!! instead.
lol yeah Trump is totally normal...not a serial rapist pedo that wants to be a dictator...but ma inflation!
The more I look at Beshear, I think he might make for a good president one day, He seems really informed on issues and understands economics well. But he doesn't present himself as an exciting candidate that would appeal to the casuals who need an exciting message. He has kind of an Al Gore vibe. Someone who is really in tune with things might connect with him, but he isn't the type to get people excited to vote, which unfortunately is what American politics at the presidential level has become.

I’m just going to accept that this is over and try to enjoy the next couple years. What a #### show. Basically watching the things we learned in social studies play out in real time.

I think a lot of.voters would love to have their politics with less excitement.
Personally I think everyone should just ignore rich tech people during election season. Their opinions are just as ####ty as everyone else's, and often times much worse.

Is it really worth splitting hairs? What’s the difference between having no elections and having a fake election?
Pretty significant. The first elections won’t be fake. They will be slanted disenfranchising people. The next election will still be contested on relatively fair terms.
big companies will step in and ensure that a more or less real democracy is maintained for business purposes. And by real democracy I mean one like the current one where business interests are routinely placed above the individual regardless of who wins.
Because when we start talking about fake elections I think you need to compare it to the level of representation currently offered. This isn’t a jump from one extreme to another. Trumps small step forward over this term doesn’t meaningfully change the current oligarchy that exists.

They want to die with the most money possible...the fact that anyone thinks these clowns are looking out for them is unreal.

Odd - it was really, really easy to cheer against Trump before too. He's a convicted felon, a rapist, a charlatan, a liar, a misogynist, a terrible businessman, a beacon of corruption, and an aspiring authoritarian with a desire to rule with an iron fist. He's a populist that appeals to the lowest common denominator, and manipulates easily-manipulated people time and time again. The man has no integrity. The fact that people would support him over Biden (even before today's announcement) is absolutely sad and bewildering.
