2. My sister has been there and its a nightmare. I've seen her photos, there is garbage and feces everywhere, its crowded and you can see the pain in the faces of the Sherpas. The whole basecamp is like the grounds after Stampede. Both the tourist one and an actual animal Stampede.
Thanks but no thanks. Everest can just...keep on keeping on without me stepping all over it.

Not funny or cool, but powerful. I have two daughters in the same age range as Patton's when his wife died, and the thought of anything happening to them or my wife is absolutely terrifying. I really appreciate how open and raw he is with it

As someone who has gone through this, the one thing I can confidently say is that grief due to the loss of a close loved one is something we experience uniquely. People would often say they couldn't imagine what I was going through and I would think "They're right because even I couldn't imagine this is what it would be like". So my unsolicited advice is "don't imagine it" because you end up experiencing thoughts in the present that will be considerably different than what you will experience if a similar unfortunate circumstance were to happen to you.

Could you imagine being the guy who has to cultivate these? That must be a grim proposition.
How do you even advertise for that position and then...who is interviewing the applicants?
