It's comical (in a sad way) that anyone thinks trump cozies up to dictators in order to "understand" them when the exact opposite is the case. He cozies up because *they* understand him so well -- Putin, Kim, Xi know that by simply stroking his ego, they can get anything they want.

They associate those issues with the current government in charge.
Therefore they will vote for other government.

Its really simple, but I guess if you're small minded its easy to do OMGMAAAGGAAA!!!!@%%EVIL!#@!@#!@#@!! instead.
It's one thing for people to vote Republican because they think it's the more fiscally responsible party but the fact so many of them worship a certified piece of #### is just mind-boggling to many of us. No politician should get that level of adoration, but he does because... he's rich and a TV star, I guess?

Trump will not change the real cause of those issues. Neither will Biden, or whoever is the Democratic candidate, but Trump is blatantly in the pockets of the richest people who can only think about getting richer. Jobs might get created if big business has less regulation to deal with, but at a huge cost to environmental and consumer protections.

MAGA (I'm referring to the set of Trump's policies) is evil. It spurs xenophobia and homophobia and labels anyone on "the left" as unpatriotic and Communist. He and his ilk say they want to destroy America. That's as deceptive as calling all MAGA (Trump supporters) evil.

That is patently untrue because a lot of people benefitted during Trump's Presidency. Rich people will always benefit regardless of Democrats or Republicans in the White House. The poverty rate in the US fell to an all time low in 2019 at 10.5%. That was down from around 15% at the start of his term. Real wages continued to grow at the same pace as during Obama's two terms.

Let's not exaggerate. They also wasted time with endless debates about picking a speaker.

I don’t think the guy who follows Clownworld and regularly caps the dumbest political opinion you’ve ever read with an eye roll emoji is allowed to called other people “small minded.”

There were some benefits to regular people, like those you mention, but the wealth gained by the rich was orders of magnitude higher. And he had a huge budget deficit to show for it.

The fact that anyone thinks Trump is some savant in the teachings of Sun Tzu and the Art of War is being willingly and woefully misled to an open pasture with a six foot hole in the ground.

The wealth gained by the top earners in the US has been magnitudes higher than the middle and lower class since the early 80s. That is going to change and it's not something that is unusual to Trump's Presidency. Like I already said, the rich are going to continue to benefit regardless of a Democrat or Republican being in the White House.

An honest, non-partisan assessment will reveal that inflation is a global issue, Canada and the US are doing pretty good relative to peers, and that solutions don't lie with the continued consolidation of wealth at the top. It's also just a reality the western world, who have had it pretty ####ING AMAZING for decades are going to have to take a haircut while the rest of the world rises. All that is to say that politicians are playing you by pretending they will solve this with the plans they have presented. And it's easy to fall for, because why wouldn't you want better for nothing? Sure, gimme some of that! Which makes it fair to point out that type of thinking is simplistic, and what reality will look like.
I never said it will be fixed.

You are correct that people often vote based on emotions. Or they're just struggling with a lot of things and simply thing a different government will help them.

These threads are really good at pointing out the fact that most posters here are in the higher income level, and likely are doing just well. For the majority of the population life isn't exactly easy right now.

That is why they looking at other options when it comes to elections.

Same reason we're seeing change in Europe as well. Funny enough, there it goes right to left. In Canada & the US it will go left to right.

It is literally pointless pointing out this.

Opendoor posted the exact same thing 2 pages ago and it was completely ignored.

It certainly doesn't go from right to left in Europe. On the contrary, we've seen a pretty clear shift to the right in many recent elections and right-wing populists have sadly seen a lot of support. Britain and France were recent outliers, but that's also due to things like a pretty unique voting system (Britain) and a broad coalition to stop the far-right (France).

Lots of swing voters wouldn't get past the fact that he's gay. Very, very sadly.

Bernie was on Colbert a couple nights ago, and damn. For 82 he's clearly the best choice of old dudes for America. Worth watching for anyone who doesn't think Trump is worth worrying about. Here's all 3 segments.

Spoiler!

Which is why Tucker Carlson and the like have intimidated that Buttigieg isn't "gay."

If they can advance the narrative that he's a hypocrite going after the "woke vote," he can be brought down to their level.

I suspect that, were he on the ticket, they'd trot out women he dated in his past.

obviously can't have a gay president, that's evil. Better go with the rapist who pays off porn stars he cheated with while his wife was pregnant instead.

Murica.
