Well Katz does have a film production company, a mansion in Malibu and a philanthropic desire to help out young, up and coming actresses.

Been saying this for a while. If people think he's the best ever they didn't watch the true greats like Mario Lemieux.

It's been cute to watch Rogers try to push McDavid as the best player in the league, but hilarious to think they live in a world where MacKinnon, Makar, Tkachuk, Josi, Hedman, Pastrnak and Kucherov don't exist

Maybe times are tough for the Oilers owner?
Billionaire Daryl Katz still asking $137.5 million for “The Manor” after 1.5 years on the market (See photos: https://californialuxuryhouses.net/b...on-the-market/).
Daryl Katz, the Canadian billionaire and owner of the Edmonton Oilers, has been attempting to sell his luxurious mansion known as “The Manor” in Los Angeles. Despite its opulence and prime location, the property has remained unsold for 1.5 years. Originally listed at $160 million, the price has now been reduced to $137.5 million in hopes of attracting a buyer. “The Manor” is an architectural masterpiece, designed in a French chateau style and spanning approximately 56,500 square feet. Situated on a sprawling 4.6-acre lot in the prestigious Holmby Hills neighborhood, the estate merges classical elegance with modern amenities. Large windows and sliding glass doors illuminate the expansive living areas, offering stunning views of the meticulously manicured gardens. The property includes 14 bedrooms and 27 bathrooms, with the master suite featuring a spacious walk-in closet and a lavish bathroom equipped with a soaking tub.

A comparison of Ovie's performance in the last two games of his SCF versus McDavid's this year might be interesting.

The non-starter is probably the indoor basketball court with 8 foot ceilings.

I’ll always remain in the camp that if he had had better luck with health and injuries, Lemieux would have more records than Gretzky.

McDavid is a lot of things, he's tremendously fast, and his hands keep up with his feet in terms of stick handling.
Is he an offensive innovator? Not really, Does he make his linemates better, no, but his speed does open up lanes for other players, so maybe.
But what happens when he inevitably loses his half step, because in a 200 x 80 foot rink, a half step is a devastating difference in speed.
What if his speed becomes less ordinary? We know he's had hard miles, he plays more then half a game every game, he has to fight through a lot of physical play.
Is he that guy that at 30 suddenly drops from a 100 + point guy down to an ordinary 60 or 80 point guy? I'd vote yes, its what would scare the shyte out of me if I'm a GM signing him up to that league max 8 year contract in a couple of years.
The more I think about it, if the Oil don't win a cup next year, I might be tempted to quietly starting to explore the trade market before that fruit turns yellow.

Ummm he turned Hyman into a 50 goal scorer and made Crysaddle a 100 point player.

I hate derailing the E=NG thread... I hate this whiny loser as well, but McDavid turning into a 60 point player once he gets into his 30's??? Come on now Captain...

As soon as that speed starts to go, what will make him any better than scores of other players around the league?

Comparison of McDavid to other inner-circle Hall of Famers after nine seasons in the NHL:
Maurice Richard: 2x Stanley Cups
Gordie Howe: 4x Stanley Cups
Bobby Orr: 2x Stanley Cups
Wayne Gretzky: 4x Stanley Cups
Mario Lemieux: 2x Stanley Cups
Jaromir Jagr: 2x Stanley Cups
Sidney Crosby: 1x Stanley Cup
Connor McDavid: 0x Stanley Cups
Caveat: Richard and Howe won their cups in a 6-team league; Orr won his in a 12-team and 14-team league. The remaining players all won their championships during the current era of the 16-team playoff format.
Obviously hockey is a team sport and McDavid is just one player, but the very best of the best prior to him all found a way to push their teams over the top and win one or more titles in the same number of seasons. Probably McDavid's closest comparison is Ovechkin who put up phenomenal individual numbers but despite his natural talent could never take his team into the promised land until late in his career.
Will McDavid follow in Ovi's footsteps and eventually win a Cup, or will he be remembered as another all-time great who never won a title like Ty Cobb, Ted Williams, Dan Marino, Barry Bonds, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Karl Malone, and Marcel Dionne?

I believe that McDavid will eventually lead his team to the cup. Maybe in the first or second year he leaves as a UFA to join another team.

Do Ray Bourque, and Hasek next.
Mario, Wayne and Jagr also won their Cups in a 20ish team league.
League is now 32 teams. There will be more all time greats that will never win.
Maybe McDavid will be the first? Stay tuned for next season of NHL hockey games.
