I think it's quite a bit more likely someone faked an etf withdrawal form (the kind you'd fill in to auto-pay bills).
I suspect it will keep happening as long as that account is active. It's a hassle, but at minimum I'd close the account and I'd probably switch banks as well.

The problem is there's no way you can trust them to fix it, and if the people who are doing it got away with it they'll almost certainly keep doing it.

Ordered a Dremel that came with 34 accessories. It arrived missing the 1 accessory I need most right now and which prompted the purchase.
Semi-silver lining is that the price dropped on Amazon and I already ordered a 'replacement' to do the returnaroo (because they can't just offer a price drop guarantee system?) so it will come today...but I probably won't have time for this task until next week.

Hours and hours on hold with the bank and different security and fraud departments was no help. I guess my only course of action is to close the account so I don't get buried in NSF fees. Awesome, this is sweet, $300 gone plus now I get the hassle of doing all that ####

Which bank is this so I can avoid them, or beware if I’m already there.

Don’t you have to initiate the EFT from your account? Is somebody from inside your household doing this? You should be able to open the app or website and see if there is anyone logged in that shouldn’t be.

Dumb question but after the first one you didn’t shut down your account and open a new one? Wouldn’t that have theoretically stopped the problem?

Not if the recipient has used his information to set up an automatic debit without his knowledge / permission.
Edit: Bizaro already said the same...

I'll be honest, I didn't see the first one until a week after the fact. This isn't my main account
In the process of opening a new one at a different bank. Have to verify my identity in person, and their hours suck so can't do it until friday

At least bank deposits are guaranteed to $100,000. Women provide no guarantees.

Usually they start an investigation for unauthorized transactions and can get additional details about it from the merchant or company making the debit to the account.
Everything is always recorded in some capacity and additional information can be obtained a lot of the times.
Did they request you file an indemnify and fill out the forms??
Sadly the customer service at banks has gone down the toilet and the level of training/specialization as well. Keep on it and be aware and if you are not liking the answers, make sure it is escalated and documented to management.

Boring night in sports - no MLB or CFL.
The networks are showing NBA summer ball.

Isn't this supposed to be the night the ESPYs are held because it's the only night of the year when there are no major pro sports being played? Why were the ESPYs last week?

Waking up at an ungodly hour to do some work and finding a bricked computer really grinds my gears. It’s never good when I find news articles on the same problem… should be quite the day.

Never heard of Crowdstrike till today. Shows the negative side of being so interconnected.

Uhm, ooops. How does that make it out of testing? Be interesting to know the details on this one.
