Watched a bit of Vance’s speech and it’s pretty disheartening to compare the guy who was thoughtful, bright and insightful 10 years ago who now just sounded like a shameless plug for Trump. I know it’s part of his new role, but wow what a contrast.

Was Trump shot? Ya not a direct hit but it did braise him. Was this an assassination attempt? 100% The shooter wasn't aiming for people in the crowd but did hit a few of them as well.
As for his medical reports, there has been enough mainstream media reports that Trump was taken to hospital and checked out with a precautionary CT scan and was evaluated by medical personnel.
I am an old school media guy and trust them but things like this are so obviously playing into the emotions of people who just want him dead and are sad the shooter missed.
Brutal all around. Media across the board in America and a lot of other places has gone down the drain.

You're right. I think the story is that Obama advised him not to run...but what Obama's motives were (I'd give him the benefit of the doubt that he was looking out for Joe - though Obama's view was likely biased by nearing the end of his own 8 year grind) and how Biden views it now is anybody's guess.
There is a chance that if Joe ran in 2016 that he would never have become president. I believe he would have needed ~three of: South Car, Penn, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona - most of which needed less than a 1% swing in 2016 and Joe won them all in 2020.
