I wouldn't want to risk Pelletier, Klapka or Solovyov on waivers.

If they try Zary at center and don’t trade anyone Sharangovich is almost certainly going. Ack to the wing. Backlund will not be the 4th line center.

Backlund is closer to 1st line than 4th on this team.

If Coronato makes the team and looks good in a top 9 role, who gets pushed down then?

We’re rebuilding, play the kids in appropriate roles if they are good enough and have earned it.

This is why I think we have too many forwards on the team.

Granted you don’t necessarily want to gift Coronato a spot but if he earns it you need to bump someone down.

We have 10 players that should be in the top 9 - again this is me assuming Coronato is going to be ready.

The Flames have two NHL centers, they are not going to play one of them on the 4th line.

Almost seemingly feels like the Flames need to move more UFA's ( Kuzmenko, Duehr, Rooney, Mantha) or we could see the youth saddled in the AHL again and wait for a trade.

You assume everyone stays healthy, which never happens.

I get what you are saying. It's still a pretty veteran heavy team considering it's a build. I'm not too worried about it though. They'll mix lines and award ice time accordingly. Fans seem to get uptight with line mixing, but every team does it. Plus, you factor in injuries.

I expect the Flames to really take advantage of back and forth movement between the AHL and NHL again. I could also see guys like Duehr, Hunt, and Rooney moving up and down despite being one one-way deals

It also wouldn't be too surprising to me to see some trades earlier than the trade deadline to ship out pending UFAs or veterans that aren't in the long term plans. With teams having more cap space, I could see more pre-trade deadline moves this year as some teams will be more motivated to get the jump earlier.

Especially if a team expecting to make the playoffs starts off slow or suffers an injury to a an offensive player. I bet a lot of GMs have Conroy at the top of their speed dial list.

Everything points to one of Zary or Pospisil getting to center the 3rd line this year. Heading into camp Zary has the leg up.

Klapka is waivers exempt this year. You can add Schwindt to the list instead.

The Flames do not have too many forwards. If you can't crack the lineup of a team widely expected to be bad, then losing you to another team is not going to be the end of the world.

Very little of what’s on the current roster will be part of this when it’s built back up.

Pretty rare a player walks away from guaranteed money. 3.9 million in cap space off the books for both Washington and Carolina.
