It is not so much that, but the effect on increasing the motivation of those who would support Trump, but couldn’t be bothered to get out and vote. “‘They’ tried to kill your team captain, who heroically thwarted ‘them’”, is a powerful motivational tool.
It will almost certainly make the difference in the places where it matters.

Also, you can't underestimate the number of people who don't follow politics, were disengaged and wouldn't have voted, but will feel the patriotic pull that the imagery induces.

Makes for a convenient excuse when Biden loses. It's not that Biden is almost dead and clearly mentally diminished, he only lost because of the assassination attempt.
It's just ridiculous, nominate Harris or one of the Governers and give the centrists a real choice.

A lot of people saw the debate and even more have seen this incident.
Those two events have opened the door for everyone that doesn't have their heels dug in to consider voting for Trump.

Early on Sunday the FBI identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the "subject involved" in what it termed an attempted assassination. He was a registered Republican, according to state voter records.

Damn lefties.
On a related note, the guy who shot Reagan apparently did it because he wanted to impress Jodie Foster.
So instead of gaslighting rhetoric, maybe just another stark reminder there are whackos of all creeds out there who take advantage of security lapses. This just might be one of those.

Personally and especially given how immediately it was presented with zero evidence whatsoever, I look forward to what he was registered as having zero impact on how many people believe he was a radical leftist Democrat.

Seems pretty clear to me that there is an alarming mental health crisis among young men in America.

If that whiff of cow fart hadn't distracted the shooter, I'd have no idea what to expect!

I think this is just further evidence a time traveler from the future can't alter the past. The universe protects the timeline.

There will be retaliation against Dems by typical insane republicans and right wingers. They will harass voters. Having a blue lawn sign will lead to attacks and violence. They will use this to blame the media for vilifying Trump. They’ll radicalize even more.
This is gonna get worse before it gets better.

Bit of a weird take, no?
It's not about what the left did (attempt to kill the political leader of the right), but what the "insane" right may do in response?

The shooter has been identified as a registered republican. The right tried to kill the right. The left didn't do anything.

Yeah because no one has ever registered in a party to vote against a candidate.
Trump was totally his guy and represented his party. That's why he tried to assassinate him.
Radicalized never Trumper/MAGA idiot.

Ah, so the insane right is going to attack the tolerant left because an insane right attacked his own leader?

He couldn’t have even voted against Trump though. He was only 20, disenfranchised, and got radicalized by some group. Far right is just as believable as far left at this point. Nick Fuentes put out a long rant about how Trump is actually bad and that lines up with this guy’s demographic. There are also accelerationists who want to bring the US into another civil war and martyring Trump could be a step towards that.
He also could just be insane and think Trump was replaced by a Lizard man.
