I recommend getting fit but shop around afterwards.
If your fitting comes back with pretty standard shafts, and standard lie, lofts etc; you can likely find a deal later in the season or on old models.
I just bought the prior gen Titleist T200s and they were under $1300 brand new.

Played Mickleson yesterday. The course was in great shape and the greens were so fast. Had a ton of fun!

Couple questions:

Anyone play Banff this year? How’s the conditions? Playing next week and last time I played (3 years ago) it wasn’t great.

Anyone play predator ridge? If you had to pick 1 course which would you play? Going to play in august.

As good as Predator is, The Ridge is one of the top 5 courses I’ve ever played in my life (and I’ve played a lot of good ones)

Going next Saturday for a iron fitting at Club Champion. Havnt poured over the thread but does anyone have experience, tips, ect? Never been fitted before. I'm stateside.
I'm using Titliest musclebacks and I do love them. At least when I'm striking the ball well. Love the feedback. They are feeling a little tired though and I do feel they are short for me. I'm 6'3", when I'm not striking well my divets are toe heavy. Gonna ask if maybe mine can just be tweaked. Not sure what to expect.
Just hope I'm swinging half asked decent next Saturday.

If you don't care about how much you spend, it should be a decent experience. They will try to upsell you on shafts though, and expect to spend about twice what you'd pay buying stock shafts. I don't think CC would be much into tweaking clubs you didn't buy from them.

If you know you want to stick with Titleist and are anywhere near Oceanside, CA, then the Titleist Performance Institute is a much better way to spend your money.

I'd kinda like to stick with Titleist... kinda hoping my fitting shows a stock shaft option eith Titleist as being my best bet and I'll just order direct.
Not sure

Agreed, I don’t typically like mountain resort courses and the Ridge course is just amazing, so much fun to play, some incredible views, great shape. A must play.

Well, had my iron fitting at Club Champion today.
I went in hoping that it would be a good day for striking. It wasn't, however that helped prove what I already know but was too proud to admit. Muscle back blades are not for me.
I love the feel. When I'm playing well, I visualize the type of ball flight I want, strike feels like hitting a marshmallow, and -almost- feel like I have control on draws and fades, I love them. When I'm not striking well I'm struggling to get the ball where I want, let alone hitting my preferred low, pentrating shot that curls back. I'm left handed.
Hit the ball like #### today. They use a 6 iron when they fit irons. Always felt like long irons were the strong part of my game relative to comparable golfers I play with. Don't keep track but guess my HC is around 12? 15? Right now. Played five rounds in the last four years but trying to get back again, where I'd guess I was around a 8 or so HC.
Swing speed around 88mph. My blades had a ball speed around 88 mph. Smash factor of 1.04? Titleist 710 MB with dynamic gold S300 shafts. Misses for the most part today were baseball pulls, hard draw/hooks. My usual miss is off the toe thin, leak left and short. I was shocked by how short my 6 was coming up, especially for a hook. Explained how today would be a day where I would just try to crush 8 or 9i irons, or pw in.
Fitter says let's try a T200 head and picked a new shaft. Now my draw is back, but picked up a pile of ball speed and smash factor. Tried a dynamic gold mid 115g s300 and everything changed. Still about 88mph swing speed, but ball speed picked up almost 40 mph, and smash factor went to 1.43. The fitter laughed and asked if I still loved my blades. Huge improvement.
So yeah, on a average day for an average golfer, the blades are killing me.
Tried a bunch of different heads. We tried Mizuno MBs for ####s and gigs, and they almost produced the best numbers. Weird. Srixons were very nice, easily 2nd place and taylormade p770s were awful. Tried Calloways, Pings, kept coming back to Titleist with that shaft. 6 iron T200s had the best dispersion, produced 40mph more ball speed, around 18° more decent angle, 1000 more rpms spin to 4900, compared to my current blades. Turns out I'm not Ben Hogan.
Very cool experience, and I can continue being a Titleist whore as the T200s produced the best results.

If you mean Springs specifically, I played last week and it was in great shape. Not completely pristine, but a solid 8.5-9/10.

I played Stewart Creek earlier in the summer and it was in rough shape. Greens and some fairways were really rough. Apparently they're still struggling to get up to speed but I haven't been back.

Stewart Creek has been brutal this year. Hopefully you played when they were offering a 50% discount because of the conditions. Even at 50% off it was a pretty marginal value.

I got fit to T200s as well, they're sweet.

I paid 80 with a cart through VIP golf and it was well worth it just for the atmosphere and the wildlife aspects. But I would say 80% of my shots were unaffected by the course conditions anyway. So it was great. But I wouldn't want to pay 200 bucks for it.

My son got fit to t100s 6-9, and a t200 5 iron. Plus 4 wedges. The only complaint about the t200 is it can randomly jump on him, especially out of the rough. A couple tournaments, he flew it 210-220, while it’s normally a 190-195 club.

This is true.
I use my 5i to punch out from the trees or blocked out shots and it sometimes explodes off the face too far and I end up getting all the way across the fairway to trouble on the other side.
Took me time to adjust to that vs my old 5i.

Well it’s been 7 years since I broke 80, and my handicap going into my round Friday was 13.5, so call it the round of my life. Haha

Made birdie on 13 to sit at +1 with five holes left. Unfortunately bogeyed my way in for a +6 78 but as a 13 index that’s the best score of my life relative to my handicap.

Was super fun to play that way again after almost a decade of not breaking 80. Don’t know if I’ll ever do it again but very enjoyable. Felt like every shot was just working.

Nice work! I’m down to a 12.8 this season and have yet to ever break 80 in my life. Have had 3 80’s in the last 2 years (including a double on 18 at mickleson to shoot 80 ). One of these days!

My first time breaking 80 was a 76! Haha eventually you’ll just have a round where you put it all together.

Pretty good shape. Maybe a touch below last year. 8/10.

Thank you sir! Considering a late season trip up there. Haven't played it in over 30 years but the memories of it are awesome.
