News update!

Quote:
Stage 3 Outdoor Water Restrictions remain in place, next steps being reviewed
“We know people are looking forward to being able to use more water outside,” says Kidd. “We are meeting regularly to discuss when we will be able to move to Stage 2 Outdoor Water Restrictions and allow things like some sprinkler use. There will be more information to come once we get through the next few days.”

I would like a more detailed explanation here on how the hydraulics work to the various reservoirs.

The simple math suggests we should have 750 or million litres per day available and are using 540 million. The usage was 540 up from 480 max. I get that giving everyone an hour a day to water increase demand a lot but if you look at old peak numbers they are 750 -800 million.
There plan is probably correct but I’d like more info.

Exception for outdoor use extended to private and residential pools.... In order for public safety to keep cool.

Meanwhile, watering plants with a hose is still a no go. I had to use a bucket today to do that, about 30 times and over an hour for the various plants, exposing me to the heat... I filled from the hose, and watering with the bucket resulted in a lot of wasted water as the ground was dry and ran off due to being applied too fast. Meanwhile, I cant use my drip irrigation that I installed last year to water more efficiently....

After the announcement that pools are okay, they say we must ration water...

The city has lost me.

I will be filling a pool with my hose and putting a submersible pump in it to water my plants with a hose.

There should be.

A hose is a bendy, long, 2-holed bucket!

Lol if I were you, I would just turn on that sucker on and drip the #### out of it the garden. It's a not a giant sprinkler that's noticeable so who cares?

All that matters right now is if how you're watering is visible to your neighbours.

So if we can't use a hose does that mean we have to use a watering can to fill the pool?

Be a shame if that kiddie pool on top of the lawn had 100's of holes in the bottom of it.

I would turn on your drip irrigation. It would use much less water than watering by hand and would get the water to where it is needed.

The city is back to cleaning the streets again so I assume we must be getting close but I assume they are waiting for Stampede to be over at the earliest before they give the green light to using hoses.

So you can water trees and shrubs planted for new home construction, but if you just planted them in your old crappy hood house(planted 3 new trees this spring) you can't use a hose? I'm fine using a bucket, but this kind of hair splitting doesn't really sound helpful.

I watered via a hose (GASP!) last night and will do some more tonight. Might even throw the sprinkler on.

City can #### right off with their bucket bull####.
