Unless they have a clause in their contract agreement that they can't start another similar site, if I were the CapFriendly owners I would just start another site immediately. Call it CapBuddy or something. Then, wait for another NHL team to come make an offer. Rinse and repeat.

The capfriendly guys have also recently created https://www.salaryswish.com/ . Smart that they'd cash in on the NHL and go after a bigger fish with the NBA. Much more complicated CBA, but smaller rosters (especially when you consider AHL guys/transactions) so it should be a lot less day to day updating.

The NHL's other 31 teams should develop and host their own site and make it accessible to fans for free.

Better yet, the NHLPA should do it. They have access to every scrap of contract information at the moment of signing, and they could really, really stand to cultivate some goodwill with the fans.

Yeah...really liked that website. It's amazing, with so much internet out there these days, how difficult it is to just straight forward information presented to you. Having teams salary information presented in a simple spread sheet is all I want. Puckpedia, formerly NHLNumbers, did that. Hopefully, someone else can pick up the slack if the new owners F the site up.

Not sure why people complain about a free website (ok, there is a small ad on the side).

If you don't like what you see, maybe you can create your own version and someday a team may buy you out for a hefty sum.

Reporters like Sarevelli, Johnston and Hayne writing heartfelt obituaries to CF is hilarious.

I still don't understand how the NHL could even operate without its own database, that was accessible to all of its franchises.

What would if have cost? - a couple FTEs at most.

We could have a 1 man roster of Tatum to get us to the cap floor lol.

Does anyone know if the Flames have their own internal program like Capfriendly? I read that a number of teams used it for their own purposes or had contracts with them.

They do. Conroy on recent interview with Pat maybe? Said they have a system that is comparable, but has some things that CF doesn't have and CF has some stuff including tools that Flames' system doesn't. Sounds like it was a hassle to flip back and forth. I would imagine this was a good catalyst to round out the existing system.

During the development camp Todd Button was on both capfriendly (or their own version that looked similar) and elite prospects frequently.

Looks similar but it doesn't have Sharangovich's extension on it yet.

Ten dollars?

woah thanks so much for this!

Our hockey sim league was looking for a good alternative site to CF that accurately lists forwards multiple positions.
