Here's a map: https://maps.calgary.ca/StreetSweeping/
You can see that most of the city is done, with a few random neighbourhoods that didn't get done before the shutdown.

I certainly won't sit here and argue too hard with anyone who thinks it's inhumane for animals to be used for entertainment, because yeah, that #### is sad.
But I also can't really say I think it's worse than animals being bred and slaughtered just for food. At least with rodeo it's a beloved team member and they'd rather them not die, with food that's literally the only reason they were brought onto this earth in the first place.

Yeah it's a bit ghoulish, but then you look at factory farms or my leather shoes and...I don't know.

The cuter the animal the more we empathize. Horsies are objectively cuter than cows, ipso facto it’s a bigger tragedy when a horsie dies. I’ll shoot a stupid cow right in the goddamn face but a horsie I just wanna feed them an apple and say “good boah”

“But for food” is the lamest argument also. We don’t need them for food. We can get food elsewhere. But it’s tasty. People are gonna poorly explain it out now.
Because people are fat fatas and think eating for pleasure is more important than exercise and entertainment.

I knew that delicious piece of irony would get brought up. Eating animals is on the list of inhumane practices we need to stop, but rodeo is higher on the cruelty scale in my opinion, so let's get rid of it first.
p.s. It's Arby's. It's barely real meat.

Beloved? Would you do that #### to your dog, let alone someone you love? And a lot of people only got to live because of the slave trade. I think we're happy that was abolished despite of that.

Hey don't yell at me, if I had it my way every rodeo event would be replaced with a demolition derby.

That did cross my mind. We all have our own hypocrisies.
I'm just sad Arby's has been basically wiped out of Calgary.

They were steers that died, not horses. I actually find cows cute. They seem to have more personality, especially Olympia, the cow we bought off my uncle during mad cow and raised on our acreage. I loved it when she ran up to get fed.

I’m more intrigued by btimbit’s idea of a horse demolition derby. That sounds intense
Aww cars? Boring

More importantly, should I order Arby's or Swiss Chalet
Edit: HOLY #### a Beef n' Cheddar is $7 now!?!? I defended Arby's at $2, hell even $4, but this? Jesus Christ

So many kids riding bikes without helmets. When the #### did this become a thing again? I thought we were past the cultural phase of helmets not being "cool"??
Also shame on the parents.

Wait until you find out a chicken breast and a handful of stale fries is $20 at Swiss Chalet.
“Can’t beat the price!”

We've had parents thank us for our kids always wearing helmets and normalizing it for their kids. I think it's 100% a parenting issue - we've 100% made it mandatory for all cases where it's smart (biking/skiing/sledding) and it's never an issue because it's always been a clear expectation. Not even in a heavy handed way - just that getting ready to ride a bike means putting on your helmet. Like a seat belt in a car, it's a habit.
