Funding. I don't foresee any extensions for a while because the Green Line is the current priority. And a provincial government that already has its knickers in a knot about how it is being built. And upcoming legislation that will make federal funding align with the province's preferred vision.

In other words: it'll be while.

Edit: And I also don't think that Silverado warrants its own stop - not yet, anyway.

There are a number of rapid transit projects that are rated ahead of it and not enough funding for most of them:

We should really have all of those projects done - now.

And going to take even longer now with the Alberta government having to approve of federal funding for each one.

I am surprised the green line to McKenzie Towne is so far down the list. IMO that short distance from 130th to MT would have been rated higher than most of the south green line (if we're going off the north rating system).

Extending existing lines to keep up with the sprawl should also be a no brainer. Lay down the tracks and build a no bells or whistles platform. It doesn’t need to be fancy, just get more cars off the road so we don’t have to keep building bigger roads

It doesn't though. This just means that people living further inside the city can't get on the train, because it's already full.

New transit capacity in denser areas will always be far more impactful on increasing total ridership.

Which is why a lot of cities will run multiple transit lines though the denser corridors in order to create capacity so that the people in inner city could still get on. This way the inner city stations will have 2-3 minutes between trains (sometimes less) even though the intervals are 5-10 minutes per line.

You can also short turn the trains so that instead of it going all the way to the distant terminus station, the train terminates at an intermediate stop and turns around.

There are ways to solve the problems of not having enough inner city capacity... Of course, in order to be able to solve those problems, we have to have the infrastructure and resources in place first.

There are more options available in the denser areas closer to the core though..

I guess my question would be at what point would you consider it sensible to extend the lines if the resulting overcrowding is your concern? Because that would basically always be a problem.

There's some early renderings and some more detailed information on each of the stations for the green line on the webpage now:

Noticing a distinct lack of designs for anything north of downtown.

The Ogden one? Thats just ridiculous. Those renderings are 1000% complete nonsense.

Never gonna happen. There isn't even enough room there for most of that ridiculous tripe.

The UCPs delays likely killed off the 16th Ave station for now.

From the station description, the Large North stationhead is nice, but the south stationhead is design to have a development on top of it.

Complete swing and a miss if there isn't a development above the train station. Would be ideal for some sort of grocery store. Hell even some something like a restaurant or pub.

Right now, the premier would like to see the Green Line connect to the current system without a tunnel and build the line as far south as the existing money will go.
Of course.
