Wow. I didn't realize this team was a productive winger away from being contenders. It's actually a bit of a blessing in disguise that Huberdeau isn't playing well... could have made us a perpetual bubble team.

I hope things work out cause he's not washed up, his game against the Bruins after the all star break showed the Hubey of old. It's still there, he needs to stop feeling sorry for himself.
|
Under Sutter it was almost like they avoided passing to him. Kadri, Lindholm and Andersson had a triangle and ignored the other two players on the ice.
Plus, he’s a passer and until Sharangovich came, there was no real finisher on the powerplay.

It wasn't a wise idea to offer him that contract while he still had a year remaining. I still believe he'll have a Jamie Benn type resurgence, could still be a few years away when more fresh talent gets injected.
It was mentioned by another poster.. watch his resurgence be this year and we end up with Florida pick. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, tough situation to be in.
It is what it is.

When he talks about his age and his contract and the Flames situation it almost sounds like he doesn't want to be here. He helps us reach the ceiling but if he's not happy here it might be mutually beneficial for him too forfeit the rest of his contract and sign into one somewhere else. Unless of course he wants to stay through the rebuild but there's not much chance he's going to be able to play on a contender otherwise. The question mark is will another team take him after he has struggled this much? His comments that Tkachuk has good players around him, gives the impression that his play has dropped off because he doesn't have that same benefit. Does that mean if he plays on another team that doesn't have enough talent he's not going to be able to play offensively as well as he can?

He’s not forfeiting the 73.5 million dollars he’s still owed…

That happened a few times for sure. But it doesn't explain the .890 save percentage. He was bad. It wasn't just him, but he was part of the problem.
Add IMO, because hockey is all about playing with confidence, when the goaltending is bad everything else deteriorates.

if Huberdeau thinks the Panthers win the cup with him, he is delusional.

|
If every player in the league could discard their worst 20 or 30 games, then PPG might not even be average.
Huberdeau’s issue sure seems to be focus and intensity. Seems hard to believe that gets better at this point in his career but who knows. Being asked to play a more complete game really seems to have hurt him.

Yeah MT is totally the Panthers 5th best player.
Your hate for him is ridiculous

Now maybe. But not why he was originally signed so it kind of cancels the other one out

You are ridiculous...
4 Panthers got Conn Smythe votes, Tkachuk got zero. I guess all those writers are Tkachuk haters too?
You might be able to squeeze him in 4th depending on opinion but there is no way he is better or more important than Bob, Barkov, Forsling
They are a deep team, Tkachuk is part of it but certainly not carrying them. If he was here still the Flames would be mid at best.

Isn’t that the truth. Doesn’t understand his contract and what he brings even if he re signed there for “cheap”.

if MT is your 5th best player, you have a fantastic team that should contend for the cup every year. Its not a coincidence that they went to the finals 2 years in a row since he got there.

That is my point...
IF Bob was playing like 2 years ago Bob they wouldn't have got to the Finals though...They were down 3-1 to Boston when 10M backup Bob went in and started standing on his head. Its crazy how anyone even tries to debate it. Like I said if that makes me a hater all the Conn Smythe voters are haters too.
Like did you guys even watch the SCF? Tkachuk wasn't even their 5th best player in that series I am being nice.
Overall he is 4 or 5 though. Call it 4 if you like, there is zero chance he is top 3 IMO

I get the disappointment in a player not producing to his expected level.
I get the worry about his contract and what it means to the team you follow.
I don't get ...
Skimming through comments looking for more reason to hate a perfectly reasonable human being.
Ugly as hell.

So many Huby sympathizers still think the problem was everyone else, just like he does. The coach was the problem. The goalie was the problem. His teammates were the problem. The system is the problem. The front office drama was the problem. The vibe around the team was the problem. Everyone is the problem except for the guy whos getting $10.5m a year and playing like dog ####.
The worst part is that 2 years in, he's still blaming everything around him. It's a loser attitude.
He's on a bad team because he played so bad it forced the front office into a rebuild. There is literally no one on this forum that wouldn't give him away for future considerations to any team that would take him.

Tkachuk is the 2nd best player behind Barkov, and it isn't really close.

More ugly!
I certainly didn't make excuses or sympathize with his production in Calgary.
Just pointing out a line between worry and concern and irrational (unhinged) hatred.
Maybe take a step back.
