If a bird is too stupid to avoid a gigantic screaming metal monster then the avian world is better off without it. Think of it as doing your part to help the better parts of the greater bird community flourish

Ugh. You evil bastard.

I have genuinely never done that...to 'My' car.

But my sister's car? She has hit 2 deer and a rabbit. "Oh...what do I do?"

And you get the pressure-washer out....

And my buddy's dad...absolutely smoked a Deer. I mean...head on...front-end, the whole van was pooched.

Normally with Deer, their skinny little legs break and they fly up and over and hit your windshield but this happened to be at a railway crossing so he hit it, lord knows what he did next but he snapped his tie-rods and had a deer mounted in his radiator 'ass out' with both front wheels facing different directions.

I'll never forget it. It was a one-in-a-million-shot.

But I have personally never hit wildlife.

And now I've Jinxed it.

When I was a kid our astrovan drove into a mother goose and her chicks crossing the highway. We heard a thud but weren’t sure how bad the hit was. Hoping we didn’t just murder a whole family. We pulled into a gas station shortly after to fill up.

Family all jumped out of the van to go inside the gas station. At this very moment the full service gas jockey and my dad are at the front. Turns out the duck we hit was actually stuck to the grill.

Me, mom and sister all stop and turn only to see the gas station attendant peeling the goose off the grill and he goes “yup, it was the mother” and proceeds to throw the flattened corpse in the trash.

It was a quiet drive the rest of the way.

I'd think about wearing it ironically, but I'm not really the kind of guy willing to get his ass kicked over a joke and I'm really not a very good fighter.

Similarly, I thought it might have been funny to get my last intern and I 'Lets go Brandon' t-shirts, because that was the Intern's name but I thought handing money to whatever organization makes those would be reprehensible and I didn't want to be associated with...well, 'all of that.'

And again, I have limits as to how far I'll go for a joke.

For instance, if someone hit that Brandon kid with a car (not my intern, you know the one) and I was the only witness? I'd keep walking and I didn't see nuthin.

The let’s go Brandon thing didn’t have anything to do with a kid. It was at a NASCAR race they were saying #### Joe Biden and NBC said listen to the crowd saying let’s go Brandon because Brandon Brown won the race and was being interviewed.

So unless you really dislike minor league NASCAR Drivers what Brandon were you talking about.

I wouldn't get to broken up about it. IMO birds are either not intelligent enough to sense imminent danger or two cocky as so many just zoom past you at the very last minute or stay picking on the road waiting until a vehicle gets way to close for comfort. Also when walking the dog some of them are way too nonchalant, letting him get way too close underestimating his speed as he's caught a few that let him get too close before fleeing.

Speaking of dead birds, I feel like I've already seen like 8-10 dead birds this year...mostly the side of the road but also a few other random places. I just can't recall ever noticing many if any in the past.

Was this one of those biblical warnings?

I know street sweeping pops up in this thread occasionally. But what I would give to have Calgary like organization in my town. They never tell us when it’s happening, no signs, just whatever to cars on the street. But today they came by at 5am!!! 5am!! Woke my kid up, and of course nobody had moved their cars because it’s July and who would have expected this?

What town is still doing street cleaning in July?

Whoever is making the decision to "save a buck" by turning off office building AC between noon Friday and noon Monday is a jackass.

Monday mornings suck enough that I shouldn't have to sit sweating at my desk because it's 25C in my office.

Guelph, Ontario. It’s madness. We haven’t had snow on the ground since March.

What really?

I honestly thought all street cleaning was done a while ago.

What part of the city are you?

They suspended street cleaning because of the water restrictions. They likely would have been done a while ago if not for that.
