I mean you answered your own question. I can't imagine ego, for either currently powerful or once powerful people, gets more realistic with age. Likely it's the opposite. And the "embarrassment" of withdrawing now would be a massive ego hit. So better to go down with the ship, I guess.
Also, while he denied that he'd ever do it, I imagine maintaining the ability to keep his son out of prison through a pardon is playing into it. He has already been found guilty of gun charges and has a tax trial coming up in a couple of months.
Any communications, really. I remember when Canada 3000 went out of business and stranded a bunch of travellers here there and everywhere. Everyone was freaking out that the government didn't warn travellers the company was on the brink. Well, if they did that it would pushed them over guaranteed.
What about when Future Shop just closed their doors one day never to reopen? They communicated nothing ahead of time. Because you can't.
It really is communications 101, so I don't know why people are flapping around over this. Pretend all is well until it isn't. There isn't a better strategy lol.
Canada 3000 brings back memories. I got fantastic deals from them, so much so, I was getting two ski trips per year some years. So much so, it made sense for me to get a Sunshine annual pass one year.
If four more years of Joe means more skiing, I’m all for it.

A lame-duck Biden could pardon his son more easily than a "died in office" Biden. He doesn't need to resign the presidency before Jan 2025... just bow out of the race and then execute the pardons after his successor has won.
Also hilarious reading the 'omg Trump = authoritative state' stuff. I mean Biden isn't running the US. Its obvious. So who is? Gee, it wouldn't be unelected morons would it? Funny how that works.
Prepare to have your mind blown, but the president doesn’t make every decision in a country of 300 million.
In a company of 100 where I worked the CEO was almost 100% communicating with investors, customers and staff. Different messages to each, none of which he wrote or came up with (but he did agree with).
Heck, I once worked in a 3 person company and there were large parts of what we did that the owner didn’t know.
I wonder if your career has been one of rigorous management by your bosses and you assume the world works with somebody overseeing and directing everything you do? But it doesn’t work like that in any company be worked in.

Biden’s rhetoric doesn’t really make sense to me, and I can’t believe his inner circle actually thinks he can win, or that he should spend the next five months working 18 hr days trying to. It will kill him.
Part of me wonders if this is a setup for a “health issue” that allows Biden to leave the office without ‘giving up’. That would put Kamala in charge, but unsure if she’s default pick or they have an open convention.
He is, and has been for some time, very obviously incapable of participating in a Presidential Debate running for President again and I’m entirely confident that Biden and the Dems will come to their senses.

Many/most dems have already got to the point of sensibility about Biden. The issue now is how to get Biden or the appropriate people at the DNC to make the necessary determination and decision.
If Biden had simply decided to not run again, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family, he'd have a fantastic legacy. VP, President, beat Trump and restored normalcy to the White House. Now though because of hubris or whatever it is that causes these old fossils to go until they drop (lookin at you RBG), he'll be remembered as the dementia president that threw away a 2nd election and let Trump back in. Why is it so hard to just walk away and enjoy some sort of retirement in your advanced age?
He lives in a bubble. You can’t see forest through the trees, if you have your personal doctor telling you you’re in great shape, and yes men telling you your sharp as ever.
I mean this election has both guys in that situation. So it’s an election between a old guy wannabe strongman, or the deep state playing ventriloquist.
I say US is effed but look at us. Similar kind of situation with younger men.

Way to completely miss the point.
There are still major decisions that the President makes all the time. Biden isn't making those as he doesn't even know what century he is in. That means someone else is making THOSE decisions.
That someone else was not elected to make those decisions.

Can you please clarify and expand on two parts of your post:
-“deep state playing ventriloquist”
&
-“Similar kind of situation with young men”
