Re Haynes' comment, I don't think there's any trouble with excitement, hell this team needs some.
If Parekh has a great camp and earns some NHL games to start the year, great. If he doesn't, that's fine too, trust the process (lol).
I really doubt he plays more than 9 games (if any) this year, there isn't really a need for him to. Though if he's crushing it that hard and the Flames feel it's the best place for him to continue to develop then I'll trust their judgement.

Yes, development is the key.
It seems fairly likely that he'd get a lot more minutes in the OHL than the NHL. Minutes are important for development. But it's also possible that there's not much more to accomplish in the OHL. Oftentimes, to improve, you need to face new stresses. So we'll have to wait and see.

Will Parekh get regular season game? I don't know.
Will he get all of the preseason games? Yep

Draft Pick

Playing a key role for Team Canada at Christmas time can be a big development step for him hopefully.

I know it was a long time ago but does anyone remember what they said about Gaudreau, AHL for a year etc.
If the kids shows he can play then give him the chance.

That would be unprecedented, even for the best of prospects. On any team (well, maybe the Oilers). Seven games in 13 days?

Nope, and not the year after, either.

Coronato played in six pre-season games last year, as well as all three games in Penticton. Flames brass will probably give a run of games to a few prospects if they've earned the opportunity.

If he’s lights out in camp, give em a few games and more practices with the big club and send em to the minors.

I feel like the maturity side of the story doesn't really apply to ZP. His mental and emotional maturity must be off the charts to accomplish what he has at such a young age.
If he's physically mature enough to play in the NHL this season...he's playing in the NHL this season. What a waste of his development to see him spend another year with children in the CHL.

But if he's not physically mature enough it's definitely better to send him back. Better for him to round out his game and grow in any areas he needs at 18yo in Juniors then against the best players in the world

About seven people have already explained that’s not possible. It’s junior or NHL.

LOL. I really like using hockey db but..... what a steal by Conroy!!

2024-Feb-28 Traded from Dallas Stars with round 2 pick in the 2024 draft (Jacob Battaglia) and conditional round 3 pick in the 2026 draft to Calgary Flames for Cole Brady
