You don't see too many coaches with only 2 years as an AHL assistant getting NHL coaching jobs, she must know her stuff for Bylsma to bring her up with him.

Tonnes of dudes get NHL assistant coaching jobs all the time with little to no experience. It would be kind of sexist if you made some chick pay her dues for a decade when the dudes don't have to.

Not a slam dunk.

Another organisation could hire and subsequently be the first to fire another female coach.

Also, while coaches are generally hired to be fired, she could also quit. Eg getting some other, better job.

Help me out. What are we doing here?

Is there some documented preference for pronouns that this coach has publicized, which should be respected?

Or are we just ####ting on other posters on the quote honestly statistical low probability off chance that there may be a specific relevant concern?

The headline was about the historic event of a first woman coach

Based on that, can we not proceed and assume, unless directed otherwise, that female pronouns are likely ok?

I said she must be a good coach for Bylsma to bring her with him to the NHL as a head coach, apologies for the rampant sexism lol.

I was actually trying to point out that she must be really good, because few coaches do have a short path to an NHL coaching gig. I guess the part you made up about me saying she should pay her dues would be sexist.

If you cared you would note they used her in the article. I would suspect the NHL to have gotten that right. So I suspect you are doing it to be a jackass.

I hope it goes well for her.

Didn't Martin St Louis go from coaching children to the NHL?

Which is really weird, don't you think? In European Soccer you've got to do your training, get your 'badges' and qualifications and then you typically work your way up.

Does Hockey have a similar process? It seems like...

"Oh you've played Hockey before! Go out there and tell those guys how to do it!"

I wish this woman the best, but man, hockey fans are brutal on coaches. I dont know anything about her but best of luck.

The NHL love those former stars. It’s just a different path for those guys.

Considering how many terrible male coaches there are, this is overdue.

Cool to see though. Hope she's successful.

No need to use terms that died in the 1970s. There is a perfectly acceptable one above.

Cool, good for her. I hope it's the first of many female coaching hires in the future. She certainly has an impressive CV in both her playing and coaching career.
