15 minute cities aside, those are terrible logos. If you have to go into detailed explanation, you’ve done it wrong and are just justifying the work.

Is the new logo all three "C"s or is it just being shown in different colour options?

This rebranding exercise is expected to cost $5.8M and $1.7M has already been spent to get us the new slogan and logo.

This tells you everything you need to know, except for what it means when they show the logo in white which I'm assuming represent the racial majority in the city:

I guess the conspiracy theory is that in a 15 minute city you'll no longer be allowed to leave your zone.

The fraud continues with this level of nonsense. Absolutely nothing wrong with a rebrand or changing things up a bit. Some local design work and a new slogan, great! Spending 2+ years, multi million contract investment and telling us how you actively engaged with 129 organizations across dozens of sectors is laughable. People made big time bank on this here deal for what is an obvious small change.
This is on top of the news that the city probably needs a year or more to figure what happened with the water main break. A year? What is the likelihood that it was a lack of maintenance, monitoring and a significantly reduced lifespan than expected? A recommendation to check surrounding water mains in Calgary using similar materials and risk? Probably tell us how engaged with global experts, talked to hundreds of people and that the review cost millions in expenses.
Reminds me of how Mcdonald's tried to tell us their head chef in Toronto needed 2 years to create a Chicken Big Mac sandwich.
NASA put a man on the moon in 8 years and when things hit the fan with a few missions, had answers and solutions in a matter of weeks.
Perhaps we can cut out some of decision makers and move things along a littler quicker and more efficient.

Just once I want to see you weigh in on a topic where it isn’t immediately obvious you have no idea what you’re talking about by the end of the first sentence.

I'd take the yellow version. It might be missing some of the Pokemon from red and blue but you get Pikachu as a starter and the sprite work is really improved.

You know what’s interesting is, you’re basically advocating for a government like China. When the Chinese government wants to get something built, like a maglev system, it gets done. Curves’ beloved Swiss Chalet in the way? Too bad, move it or it gets plowed.

We developed a Covid vaccine and had approval for use in a handful of months for a global pandemic. A lot of heavy lifting had been done, sure, but the speed was there.
You do not need 2 years, millions in spending and a level of engagement numbering 100+ and more for a rebranding like we got, probably why it's being mocked a bit.
Take the bias out and pretend I was in charge of this project at Tourism Calgary and Calgary Economic Development. I told you the exact same thing as you are being told now about cross country engagement, stake holders and industry across Canada being consulted and more.
Would your reaction be "Curves, wow, that's impressive. The return on investment is going to be strong and I can feel the change radiating across Canada. A colourful C for Calgary. You must have been the top of your class!
Or would it be something different?

Nobody is advocating for a government like China, get out of here with that nonsense.
Governments and corporations a lot of time get stuck in the mud obsessing over nonsense. Effective leaders know where you can move things a long quickly.
Toronto and the GTA is approx 4 times the size of Calgary. Would it require 8 years, $20 million in spending to rebrand as "Toronto: Think Big! Think Canada! With a branding strategy of downtown Toronto and the CN Tower and the Maple Leafs?
It's ok to admit the taxpayers got taken for a ride on this deal, it's apparent. We see it everywhere. Anybody remember that garbage art project near Winsport? When it came to fruition it was a gong show, they tried to pass it off as some Indigenous art for the historical area until the local tributes told them to pound sand with that lie.
