Sure.

Which player making $2,454,167 or more do you suggest they get rid of, and how? (Assuming they go with a 21-man roster and don't replace him.)

Most of the Oilers in that price range have NMCs. You're looking at one of Ekholm or Bouchard (not happening), or Ceci or Kulak (and then running with 6 D).

I hope they do hire Stan Bowman as their next GM. He'll be walking right into a terminal migraine.

Not to mention they are obviously risking losing Drai for nothing or being in an even worse cap spot next season

It is a shame the Flames don’t have the 3rd rounder bit give him 3.5 million for ####s and giggles. Cause you can.

4.5 x 3 or 4 for Holloway. He's gonna be a legit player, looked great in the playoffs, and there's no way Edmonton could match. Compensation is only a 2nd. I'd do that all day.

Clearly they have already found the way to get out of Kanes contract without penalty. They are over right now

Also throw a 1.5x2 for broberg. Either they lock up both and ruin their cap, or potentially we get 1 or the other

Either Holloway or Broberg I would gladly go to the max of the 2nd round compensation.

The Flames 2nd could very well be a top 35 pick next year which I would still give up for Holloway

The only caveat I'll throw in there is that the player has to sign off on the offer sheet. No guarantee of that happening. It's likely they would but you never know.

Flames only have a 2nd. Give him 3.7 million on a one year deal and get it done for sure.

If a Calgary kid like Holloway isn't willing to be a true Calgarian in the sense of wanting to screw over the Oilers any way he can like signing such an offer sheet, then there's simply no hope for him as a human anymore, let alone a hockey player.

Sign Holloway to an offer sheet, give up a 2nd
After that (and only after), get our 2nd back by taking one of their contracts (not Kane, maybe Ceci)

Essentially stealing Holloway for nothing

Do it

I have a feeling the Oilers wouldn't be too keen to make any more deals with Calgary if they stole Holloway away ... not that they're frequent trade partners in any event.

There is absolutely, positively, no reason to sign Holloway to an offer sheet. Especially not one with a second rounder as compensation.

The Oilers would just take the pick, and you'd be stuck with Holloway on a dumb contract. If Holloway gets 4.5 what do you give Zary? He's already twice the player.

Broberg I could see, first because there's actually a chance the Oilers would actually bother matching, second because losing him would actually affect them at all, and finally because there's actually a slight chance he might live up to the contract/price of acquisition.

But Holloway? I'd rather keep the pick.

Right, the league would probably let them get away with that. They're one of the special teams.

Holloway for a 2nd is a clear loss for the Oilers, he's one of the only first-round picks they actually got right under Holland. He's legit.

Completely disagree. I'd take Basha over Holloway any day.

It is too bad it would be the Flames 2nd. It might be 33rd overall.
Still, I do like Holloway.
