It's possible that a change of scenery my be beneficial for his mental health. Maybe he just needs to turn the page and wants to start with a clean slate somewhere with more anonymity.

I don't know, I just don't think we should take it personally.

for all we know, he didn't and hasn't signed because he still isn't sure if or where he wants to play. Maybe he isn't the villain everyone is assuming.

I thought he looked pretty mediocre or even bad this season. I'm ok with moving on too. I don't think anyone will give him more of a chance than we did/would have.

Fair enough. I’m just saying it sucks because he was fun to watch and was pretty good.

Conroy just said on the 960 that the door is not fully closed.

I remember they said at one point it wasn't definite that he wanted to play hockey anymore and thus signing him to anything more is a huge risk

We shouldnt take it personally but I think the Flames made a fair offer and he got bad advice.

Bean is a former first and played 82 games last year was begging to play here. We need players that want to be on the Flames not players who are willing to stay if we overpay.

I think he’s a little different given the strong year he had beside Tanev and then the uncertainty the last two seasons. There is more unknown there than your typical mid to late 20s ufa

But your point is generally taken.

Dissapointed but I don't blame the Flames at all for being cautious. I think the Flames and their fans treated him very well throughout everything but he has earned the right to make his own decision. Will be interested to see where he ends up and what the contract is though.

Craig said they offered him what they thought was fair and he wanted something else. He said he wanted to test the market. This is all public knowledge.

I never said villian I said bad advice. Playing a quarter of your previous contract is obviously a factor.

He may just want a fresh start. It's all good.

No hard feelings from me.

I heard the interview too. All I'm saying is there's a possibility that "something else" means something other than money. That is perfectly fine and reasonable in my books. Perhaps he isn't sure that this is the best place for him to be.

Too bad. Really wanted to see him stay with the flames and it seemed like he wanted to.

You have to think any contract offers he gets will come with a low base salary and a games played bonus structure.

Well a month ago he said "they know where my loyalty lies" and over the last couple days its been reported that he wants 2 years and a slight raise.

If true he got bad advice

Doesn't seem a return is likely (or at least imminent).
