everybody wanted him to sign a bunch of 1/2 year deals for guys that can then get flipped for assets - just perfect

I hope Conroy is waiting on some of the guys that get left without a chair when the music stops and the other teams fill their cap. Then he can snag some more guys on 1 year deals that are motivated to play hard next year, and of course then get moved at the deadline.
See what is left in the bargain bin.

On 960 Steinberg says he believes the Flames offered a 2 year deal to Zucker. The AAV from the Flames would have been less than the 1x$5m he signed withe Sabres.

Yeah, I think he said earlier he believes the Flames had a 2 year, $3.5M AAV contract on the table (as did other teams) but that Zucker chose the 1 year, bigger AAV.

Would any of these guys sign a $4.58M deal? Would any of their teams match? Would be a 2nd for compensation.
Couple other guys that would be interesting would be Broberg/Holloway.

Sillinger and K Johnson could be added as incentive to take on Laine. So glad we have the cap space to consider these options.

I believe Quinton Byfield could also be an offer sheet target. Hard to see LA letting him leave though.

For sure he’d be a good target. Not someone I’d give the 2025 first up for though I think. But it wouldn’t be the craziest idea.
