I like this approach. Let's see how the year goes then sign a deal that works for both sides based on the fit.

Like Mang, if you could pull a 2nd? I’d do that now. Otherwise, yeah wait until the deadline and try and pump the guy up.

Finished the season strong here, but not a guy I’d want to extend (especially right now). He’ll be 29 when his next deal starts, Flames need to be careful about signing too many players in that age range - unless it’s gonna 1-2 year deal.

Kuzmenko is not a guy you lock in long term. Hope for offence, flip him.

With cap inflation, it would have been like signing mangiapane to around $4.5 million. I also think Sharangovich will be a more consistent goal scorer than Mangiapane was, although, once again, I'll miss saying eat bread.

Andrei Kuzmenko scores at a 40 goal pace when not coached by Rick Tochett, is magic with Huberdeau on the powerplay, and is bad defensively.

we don’t want him on the team because…?

I don’t know if I would put it so bluntly, but, yes, flipping Kuznenko at the deadline is, short of injury, when you’re likely to get the best return.

Thumbs up on the Sharangovich signing.

Zero interest in having a 29 year old offense only player signed to a long term contract

I would want a 1st round pick for Kuzmenko if he's trending towards 60+ pts and I would put him in every position to do that.

Because the only true thing you said is he's bad defensively.

What if it’s a three or four year contract?

Someone has to pump, Anthony Mantha’s stats so we can dump him.

Is this a sign the Flames believe Sharangovich is an option at center?

Have to see what Kuzmenko can do before extending him
