Oilers get out of a cap crunch and put themselves right back into one. Hilarious.

It's not really limited though. They have 5 D signed and all their top guys. Their starting goalie is at a cheap $2.6M.
They play the top half of their depth chart the half the game anyway. This is actually an add without any subtraction.

It is very limited.
They have to fill their remaining roster with league min guys now. Which means that they Can’t have the depth they had this last season which helped them.

I do like it, but....they need this type of add on their defense instead. I think they would get more mileage out of adding to their defense than adding to their forwards at any level at this point, for your second reason. They don't have a mcdavid/draisital on defense, so more depth on D is needed, but who knows.

Don't mind this for the Oilers but it eats up their available cap and he struggles to stay healthy and has never been a playoff performer

Flames should offer Holloway a one year 3.5 million dollar offer. He may have some upside. If that does not work offer Broberg the same contract.

So they're at 17 players with 3.9 left in space.
They have Holloway and Boingboing as their restricted free agents, that have been qualified.
But will probably eat about 3 million bucks all told, because both are terrible.
So they'll have about 900k with 19 players signed, With an older lineup, I guess they're hoping to not have any injuries.
Next year they'll have 11 players and about 28 million in cap, with Draisaitly, and Bouchard eating a large chunk of that. If I'm reading right.

They have under 8 million left. They have to give raises to Holloway and Broberg, and then still sign 2 forwards to have a 20 man roster. This was a major chunk of what they had so they are really stretching themselves thin with this signing.

They still have to ice a team and they still need to make sure their PK is as good as it was.

They are at 16 players with just under $8M in space. I think Arviddson means they aren't re-signing Foegele. They still need a Jarnkrok, who may have been their most impactful forward in the finals.
But their bigger problem is next year.

Gross. I like Arvidsson. Well not amy more.
Probably an ok pick up for Bumonton. Plays well when he healthy..Don't know that the Oilers need another shoot-first guy though.

But that's what I'm saying. Who was the depth that they lost? Perry? I'm sure he would return for the league minimum.
