I think think is a solid deal, personally. Problem with Tre is he loves the splashes. He's a #4. How are they going to get a #1 to bump everyone down the depth chart?

Treliving really zero’s in on his guys. He’s lusted after OEL since he was a Coyote. It’s like he just never learns anything.

Happy for him that he finally got his man. Happy for us that he did it with the leafs.

I'll say this...

I hated the OEL signing last year, but he came in and played top pairing minutes with Forsling until both Ekblad and Montour were healthy. He did a fantastic job, had 9 goals before Christmas. Then, he dropped down to the bottom pair with Kulikov and performed exceptionally well in limited minutes, but hard to say how much of that success was due to being sheltered.

I guess I'm not sure what OEL is at this point. they're paying him like a #4, and he could deliver on that, but he could just as easily look bad at that contract level.

Yup, this is a fair deal for the Leafs and after he recovered from his injury in Vancouver, he played well in Florida. 3.5 is not an overpay, and is about right, which is shocking because it's July 1st, but with Toronto being a desired destination and a top team, they have that advantage.

Oooo Tre gave him a 16 team NTC. That's no good, Tre... It handcuffs you if you want to trade them like what happened with all those Flames UFAs....
