I'm digging everything Conroy has done (love the Marky and Mang trades), but to harbour that 'competitive culture', I think we could see a Flames team get aggressive today and try and get to sneak into a wildcard spot. We know he isn't doing 6-7 year deals...but 5 and 4 year deals seem to be on the table.
We'll see!

You'd be hard pressed to fins worse goalie in the NHL over the last two years than Vladar, although I get he had an injury, and mau eventually return to some type of form.
Wolf is a complete wildcard. No doubt he is a unicorn, but i don't think we have any idea what he'll do this year.
Can the Flames sign enough UFA's to compete for a wild card spot. They'll need to overpay in terms of AAV and/or term to attract the best ones. I can't get over the fact they were terrible last year and not a playoff team before losing guys like Hanafin, Tanev, Zadorov, Lindholm and Markstrom. They won't come close to replacing those players.
But lets see where they land after today and try to assess the team.
