True but I wish the Flames were weaponizing their cap space instead of signing UFA's. There are too few spots for them to do both, IMO. Same on D.

I think it's largely just Salim believing the Flames are going to be very aggressive tomorrow. I think such a path is pure madness - putting that CGY 2025 1st round pick in danger for a wild card spot is the last thing this team ought to be doing.

Duclair, I don’t really understand.

Debrusk, I do. It’s been rumoured he wants to play here. Given the way the past 24 months or so have gone, signing a guy who can play a solid top 9 role, offer leadership, and should be able to play well for whatever term they give him, probably isn’t a bad idea.

If all goes well and to plan, Debrusk could still be a contributor when this team is on its upswing.

The only reason to bring Duclair seems to be to kowtow to your $10.5M winger.

Give Stamkos max money on a one year deal! Sell some jerseys, season tickets, etc ... Deal him at the deadline for a bundle!

They wouldn't even need to play him. Have him stay in Tampa and play every 5th game to stay in game shape.
