can anyone explain the deal with the hard drives? What is the big difference between one that doesn't have one and a 200 gig one or whatever?

Going tonight to get a 360...

Thanks for all the insight by the way everyone.

You want a hard drive for sure. Otherwise you have to buy memory cards to save games. Also, downloading the playable demos is fun, and you'll need it for that or downloading videos.

The 120GB on the elite seems like over kill. I am not really sure why you would need that much space. Unless you plan on playing an massive amount of online games I don't see why the standard 20GB won't be enough. Maybe someone else can lets us know why you need the larger hard drive.

I know 8 people who own a 360. 5 of the 8 360's have died. One guy who shipped his 360 back to Microsoft to get it fixed, had it die again not even week after getting it back lol

Personally, I'll just wait until the fall/winter to get a PS3. I got enough PS2 games still to hold me over until the PS3 starts delivering it's heavy hitters.

Well, demos are running up to and over 1GB, so it doesn't take many demos to fill it up (and I'm a fan of demos).

The big thing is the downloadable content, including high def movies and shows. A high def movie is 4-5 GB, and a high def TV show of 1 hour will still be 2 GB. Doesn't take many of those to fill 20GB. You can apparently redownload your content an infinite # of times, so I guess it's not that bad, but that takes time. Or maybe it's just the data packrat in me

Yeah, when mine died my replacement died within a couple of weeks.. in total I was without my 360 for a month and a half (mostly waiting for them to send a box, which they forgot to actually send but said they did for two weeks) and I got ZERO compensation for it, no free months of live, no game, nothing.
