Apples and oranges...you said he has a bad reputation. He doesn't, he is overpaid for what he currently brings at his age and that is all.

And I have acknowledged it; I realize the philosophies of the two trades are different and the approach Treliving took was more measured, still lamenting over the possibility of the other route. At the end of the day, thank goodness for Craig Conroy taking over the reigns lol. Good luck Toronto!

Sorry folks!
With that said, my one worry is the reunion could be Gio, I’d rather not but I could see him come in as a 6-7 and play sheltered minutes while being that presence in the room.
|
Phew. Can’t go home again. Probably Wouldn’t be long before he got injured again and we’d have buyers remorse. The sting of having to dump his contract with a first rounder (not his fault) would follow him around here. Time to build a new core that is forward looking and based on speed (which was never Monys strongpoint). Good luck to him but happy to hear the ship appears to have sailed.

I’d 100% love to see a year of tanking, I just don’t know if that’s what we’ll see.
Tomorrow should be exciting. We’ll learn a lot.

5 years for Monahan? 5?!?!!!!
Dude, you’ve been arguing for as long as I can remember about avoiding such players/contracts and tearing it down to the studs because that’s the only way.
Debrusk, Dumba, and goalie should be it. The only one who should get more than 2 years is Debrusk.

I don’t mean his personal reputation. I mean his on ice performance reputation
Sorry if that’s not clear

I could get behind bringing back Gio on a one year deal and then moving him into management.

I hope they look at just one LHD, someone like Brenden Dillon for a 3-4 year deal. Maybe that’s not appealing to him. But it would give them 3 “proven” top six defenders and leave room for guys like Bahl, Miromanov, Solovyov, Pachal etc. to see if/where they can handle NHL minutes
I don’t see anything more than a 7 in Hanley

Are you telling us that had Treliving added more pieces to the trade and acquired Stone, only to see him walk for nothing, that would have been cool?
Aside from finals appearance, or the cup itself, I bet there would be no end to the criticism on that trade.

I am definitely not arguing FOR what I put in that post, more of a wondering what we could see given Conroy’s comments/the continued talk that this team won’t be bottoming out as they chase a competitive culture.
My first choice would be that the Flames sign absolutely no one tomorrow. That’s my real hope, but I don’t think it’ll play out that way.

Has there been an end to the criticisms of the hamonic deal? lol we clearly disagree, let’s just agree at that and leave it.

I'd like to see us sign no one. But I'd be fine with just Debrusk on a shorter term deal, and a dman.

Hasn’t Conroy been pretty consistent on the team not signing long term deals?

There are absolutely other teams interested but the Flames remain right at the forefront of discussions re: DeBrusk.

Love Giordano to replace the leadership qualities we lost in Tanev. Keeping good leaders in the locker room is so important with so many kids joining the group.
