Probably Montreal but the Flames still have to do a big retention and not getting much in return
His reputation around the league is not good

after a big weekend, watch the Flames come out and have a big Monday.
Mark Giordano: 1 Year deal
Sean Monahan: 5 year deal
Jake DeBrusk: 4 year deal
Anthony Duclair: 4 year deal
Matt Dumba: 3 year deal
DeBrusk - Monahan - Kuzmenko
Huberdeau - Zary - Duclair
Coleman - Kadri - Pospisil
Sharangovich - Backlund - Coronato
Pelletier, Rooney, Klapka
Weegar - Miromanov
Bahl - Andersson
Giordano - Dumba
Pachal
Vladar
Wolf
Driedger
Flames then trade Sharangovich, Kuzmenko, and Giordano at some point in-season.
We certainly wouldn’t be in a “tank” situation. Re-tool on the fly would become the conversation again. Conroy is saying no 6 or 7 year deals…

Flames very happy with the draft and how it went.
Flames tried to move into 4th for Demidov but Columbus didn’t want to drop back to 9th. Then tried to leapfrog both Utah and Ottawa because they had suspicions both wanted Tij. Montreal wanted a fortune (multiple 1sts) but ultimately coveted Demidov and took him.
Yakemchuk curveball opened it right up, caught multiple GMs off guard. I asked if he was on the flames list and was told he was a mid round pick for them.
Absolutely shocked that Parekh fell, thought he would be the 2nd D taken.
Flames really thought they were getting a forward, sounds like Catton was their pick when Tij went off the board, but Seattle took him.
Flames told Gridin they were taking him with their 2nd first if he was there. Almost traded up for him in the low 20’s but price was high, got him anyway!
Won’t beat the horse anymore on Basha, Misa, Mews but shocked they were all there and got them. All very high on their list.
Believe they got the best goalie, thought he would be the first one gone. Sigalet wanted to take him in the 2nd.
Expect flames to be very active July 1st.
Main targets remain: DeBrusk, Dumba, Copley & Duclair
Centre depth an area to watch.
Kylington contract stalled - believe the hang up isn’t money but term.
Don’t expect to see A.J back
|
I like that list of FA's they are targeting.
Especially since CC won't be handing out any long term deals.

I don’t think we have much of a Monday, personally. Some moves but day one moves I don’t see the Flames making.

I don't think so, see Skinner(82P in 79GP).

Yeah, I'd like to see Debrusk on the rumored deal and Duclair on a 1-2 year deal.
Would be a pretty under rated forward group IMO.

I love Monahan guys, but I’d rather Zary and Sharan be getting the center reps in. We can get him later when we’re a contender and is cheap depth.

Did they want to get rid of him last year? This year, he had 46 points. I bet if Skinner had another 80+ point season, there would have been a taker. They wouldn't have gotten a ton but some desperate team looking for offense.

Come home Mark.
Conroy, Iginla, Giordano. Our last 3 captains steering the ship.

It’s not.
Stone was willing to sign an extension in Vegas and not in Calgary. Valimaki would have been a Sen if Stone was willing to sign.

I don’t see the harm in bringing Gio on a minimum contract at your seventh guy. He can still be a specialist to block shots in limited minutes. Why not.

The flames should we weaponizing their cap space to take on shorter term bad contracts for picks. If they sign anyone, it should be guys who have something to prove. Over pay on 1 year deals and then trade those guys at the deadline. Rinse and repeat until the cupboards all fully restocked.
You’re either a contender or should be doing everything you can to become one by drafting high. The flames have spent WAY too long in middle of the road purgatory. Conroy seems to be on the right path. Please stick to it for at least two years. Be terrible, draft high, then compete.

Soft player, choked in the playoff, team won the Cup moving on from him, 2 struggling years with the Flames.
Is that enough?
