Brad sucked when he was here. I hope he continues to suck in Toronto. But I don’t really care one way or the other. Klingberg and Reaves and Kampf were good starts but there is much more work for Brad to do in TO.

Remember 4months ago when we were freaking out because we wouldn't bench him before the trade deadline fearing he would get injured? lol

To spite Canucks fans, all I hear out here is that he likes Vancouver better than Calgary and how the city of Calgary sucks bla bla.

+200. I couldn’t believe he got another gig. Toronto is looking to make a playoff run. Treliving is not that GM. His playoff record in Calgary was atrocious.

I absolutely think that makes sense. It isn't a benching for a guy like Tanev to spend 1/4 of the games in the press box, that's just keeping him healthy to go 100% the rest of the time. Gives the 7th D a chance to get some games and keeps him fresh for a long playoff run. A true contender won't have an issue without him every 4th game

They're interested in OEL also? Berube and Tocchet are buddies and Tocchet jettisoned OEL because he wouldn't block shots. I do think Toronto's getting Zadorov though. He's got the right mental makeup to handle that media insanity and his suit choices could give them another fashion icon to add to their Matthews sartorial obsession.
If they go long term with Tanev, they just squeak in under the 35+ contract rule--if he's 34 when he signs it, they can still buy him out down the road. Might be nice for him to be closer to his parents, but it would also be hilarious if Ottawa pulls off the rumoured plans to sign both Tanev brothers after Toronto traded for his rights.

This would be smart for teams to do, but I doubt we’ll see it happen. NHL teams hate innovation.

And with a barren future.
I still can’t believe that we won’t be through his mess until this time next year and the asinine conditions on our 2025 first round pick. And the sub conditions (however likely or unlikely) are even worse.
Glad he’s helping Toronto!

The NHL has proven woefully uninterested in going after teams for violating the spirit of the salary cap except in certain instances. Robidas Island has been a known joke for years. The times teams have gotten away with avoiding cap hit is by and large ridiculous.

Didn't the Oilers recently do this with one of their players?

That's incredibly stupid by Toronto.
Congrats to Tanev for getting paid I guess. Too bad it's with that team.

It's unfortunate that none of the penalty went against the Oilers because the Hawks could afford to sacrifice the cap space. The Oilers could not.
